I haven't done alot of work to it, but today I took out the rear spring, replaced it with a Posies superslider, put some bigger shackles with it. Then moved to the front and replaced the front with a superslider and 2.25" shackles. Finished it off with some wide whites (thanks Coker!) and here she is! Before: After: Now I need to get to work on the flathead!
Don't forget to check the sidesway with longer shackles at the back, you may need a Panhard rod back there. If the front ones are longer than stock check that too.
Thanks for the compliments everyone.... It does seem to have a little more sway to it. I may have to do something to stabilize it a bit. I want to get the work done to the flathead before Bonneville, so I'm focusing on the motor next.
Wish I could tell ya. I haven't been able to find out yet. I've been told by a "paint guy" that it's a custom blue base, but it has a silver flake in it as well. It's interesting. In real life, it's kind of a cool 1960's looking blue.
Labold, I haven't put in my dropped axle yet, so I didn't take any leafs out of the springs. It's nowhere near as low as yours! I had one afternoon (4 hrs) to work on it, and doing the front/rear suspension as well as putting in a drop axle and drop steering arms was a little too much work for me to accomplish in 4 hours. It's still in my plans, but it's going to have to wait for another day......
Looks awesome man!!! I love it! What's that color? I want to paint my '32 a similar color when the time comes.
The al***ude adjustment and the new tires make a world of difference. that color is a bit differwent than what you usually see on a '40 but it really works with those wheels and tires. Frank
That looks great! Part of me really wants to throw the original ford wheels on there with some bias ply whites. Taller tire/wheel combo. I think that would look better. I'm not a huge fan of the radials.
