For those of you that have been following it, the 100 year flood happened in SE Wisconsin last night. 7.5" of rain fell in 2 hours time in places. Say a prayer for those that will have catastrophic damage to their homes and hot rods. I won't post photos here of people's stuff but if you have seen the photos online you know how bad it is. Talked with my one buddy in Shorewood, WI and his shop is completely flooded. He had a 62 Impala down to bare metal and the water was up to the door handle last night. Hope all are safe and good luck to those that got hit the hardest. More rain coming today
youtube video of the rains: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFgJUGplEnA&sns=fb *note: not me or any of my friends in the video. Just a vid showing the amount of water that took over the city
I am flying in to MKE tomorrow night. Picking up a roadster Sun morning in Mukwongo and driving back to KS. I hope.
Mukwonago was hit pretty bad.Airport was, could still be closed.Better get an update.Hope the car is o.k. also......
I own a plumbing company based in Port Washington. We worked last night and all day today in Fox Point and Whitefish Bay replacing water heaters, adding sump pumps and rodding drains. The damage is unreal down there. I was in a house today that had 10 inches of water....on the first floor! Imagine what the finished ba*****t looked like. There are some folks in a bad way in Milwaukee today. Please keep them in your thoughts.
Around Columbia, MO, the MO River levees are holding! Thank God. Wiki the 500 year flood of '93 if you want to! Big MO was BLUFF TO BLUFF full and coming up into the SW of Columbia bigtime back then and we are like 13 miles from it!! Our neighborhood in the SE of Columbia did get hit with slightly bigger than golfball size hail several weeks back so a bunch of the houses had to be reroofed! I'm more worried about the wet weather and then HIGH winds that can uproot trees and one year back about '82 or so it did and blew so many BIG trees out of the ground that most all traffic stopped due to downed still hot wires and trees! NOT funny at all. Hope everybody make's out OK in the end!! pdq67
and then there's this; http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38395404/ns/weather Maybe not as bad as Wisconsin, but could still be deadly. Thoughts and prayers to all those in the way. Roger
The creek behind the house rose to the shed and washed away a walking bridge and left debris 4 feet up the trees... right now I'm installing new sump pumps and leaving the old ones in there as a backup set to a higher water level to handle the volume of water! The dual pumps in each of the crocks allow the primary pumps to turn off and cool down!
After having dealt with the flood of '08 in Cedar Rapids, IA...my heart goes out to everyone effected by the flooding! There's a long hard road ahead with the clean up and rebuild! My thoughts and prayers go out to all!
I could have been a weatherman and predicted the same thing for the past two weeks, and been pretty accurate. Hot and humid during the day, thunderstorms and plenty of rain at night. We have been getting lots of rain in the fox valley area, but nothing like down in the southern part of the state. Seen footage on tv of flooded streets, and how high up the water was. Hope everyone is okay.
we lost a 200+ year old Oak tree and the neighborhood got a heck of a jolt from a m***ive lightening bolt. Needless to say, the streams are high. It is sad to see the awesome crops under water. They are doomed.
Here are pics of my shop after the storm. The building rubble on my lot is the roof of the Verison phone co. building across the street. It damaged the buildings and some cars but could have been much worse......Man I hate dealing with Insurance companys!!
