302 oil pressure

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by hiboy, Jul 24, 2010.

  1. changed out the heads on my 302 ford. Runs good but oil pressure is now really low. Checked with a second gauge, same reading as the old one. What is going on?

Are you using a mechanical or electric gauge?Ithink you may have gotten a tiny piece of crud in the pressure port. There are no pressure p***ages in the heads except for pushrods. You also could have gotten alot of **** down in the pan and it is blocking the pickup.

Try a different (new) oil filter (you could have gotten a bad one), provided you didn't get a lot of **** in the pan, and pick up tube like 65comet suggested.
