Mini Merc Volvo Custom

Hi guys, I have been searching the web for some time for some pics of a chopped Volvo Amazon called Mini Merc. I remember seeing a pic of it in an old UK mag but am sure the feature was of a US show. Anyone help me out, seem to remember it was a big money car. Thanx

 

The re was a chopped black cherry one featured with the Reasoner built Cool 51 in Tex smiths custom cars . It had mini Jimmy Jones style bubbles,slant post chop and a 52 desoto grille in a mercesque grille shelle and 59 cad taillights. I think the guys last name was Wallace but I may be wrong.

He made quite a few Paso's n such back in the day.
The car is gone now. Dismantled due to a divorce.
Mike was quite the metal man. He peaked the hood on my 52 Pontiac Hearse. Looked awesome.

Last year at Paso, I saw a very cool Volvo 122 sedan that had been "customized", lowered, side pipes, etc. Actually looked pretty good. Got pics at home. It was in the hotel in Atascadero, never actually saw it in Paso proper. This post reminded me of that, wonder if it is related ?

What and where did cars like that come from? It looks so nice, but more on the toy model side then full scale.

 

That green one is nice.

What did the one that "link" posted start out as. I think I remember it but just realized again what a neat custom it made.

Sorry don't have any pics of my Volvo to send yet but as soon as I wheel it outside will take some. Am having real problems posting pics at the moment though.I have chopped the roof changing the back window and am just about to start the doors+tops front inner wings and front panel work.Car is a real TURD.

 

DAMN that thing was cool! We kept checking it out.

 

Not quite a big money car. I had about 4500.00 in it with a ton of hours over 4 years
