My sisters husband has a 69 Daytona siting in a field in Virgina, that he lets rust away. The car is complete, and is almost to far gone to be brought back. The sad thing is he has a 30x40 shop that just has a bunch of trash in it, and he wont bring it down to it.

My High School friend bought a 1969 Hemi Daytona with a 4 speed for $6,500 in 1975 and drove it sparingly for the next 5 years.

All the while he kept on buying every single NOS part for that car for the past 29 years!

I watched him turn down a Quarter Million (cash) for just his car and he still has enough parts to build 3 or 4 more complete Hemi Daytona's...!! (NO B.S.!!!!) [IMG]

The only thing he needs is your Brother inlaws vin tag and title and he'd have another Quarter Million dollar car!!!! [IMG]

Click on the BID HISTORY you'll see that a guy with a -1 feedback and a 0 feedback were the last ones running up the bids, seller has a 0 feedback as well. The three may know each other.

The ebay mustang is easy to figure out...

The guy that is selling it had someone/a friend, or himself make up the new account to make the first bid. Why do you think that the only bid that met the reserve is someone with Zero feedback? Do you think someone with 62,000 dollars cash to mess with would not have an ebay account yet?

**The first bid wasn't a new account. How do you know what the reserve was, and why do you think there was only one bid that met reserve?

I guess he thinks it will help people jump on it thinking, it's the only one available.

It's a rare Mustang but Why does the guy not know if the engine is original, doesn't the Vin numbers match the Engine numbers? that tells me the mustang is not worth that much, maybe 20,000 in this terrible condition.

**He bought the car from the original owner. He's covering his ass by saying he didn't know if the first owner changed motors.

**Your later remark about his compensating for a height-stature problem did make you sound like an asshole. Would you say that Don Garlits or George Montgomery had the same problem? They were short and had a slight build also. Some of the quickest drivers were the lightest. And they had the biggest balls.

The prices on the muscle car stuff is through the roof. My dad has a 68 Camero I6 3 speed nothin nothin car but he bought it new off the lot in Dec of 68 and has every paper that came with it. I sits under a car port and every summer he fires it up to pull it out for picnics and like clock work somone stops and offers to buy it. to date he's turned down $8000 cash for it. Fortunatly he's planning on giving it to either me or my brother.

The old lady story reminds me of a local woman who brought her 454 4-speed 70 chevell to a friend of mine to fix. Turned out she drove it like an "old lady" and all he did was take it out on the highway and run the crap out of it. When he told her what she was doing to it she sad " Well i don't need it any more if you want to buy it tell me how much you'll give me" he never told me what the selling price was but he said the lady was VERY happy [IMG]

  7. I kinda' like that High School Graduation, First Communion, Bar Mitzvah photo.

What I don't understand is why people think long term storage in a chicken coop is a good thing.

It probably looks worse that it is.

Everytime I ever say "Oh, that's overpriced. That can't be for real.", I get a reminder that "No, it isn't. Just wait awhile."

I laughed at 55-57 T-Birds at $5k. Passed on a Hemi Road Runner at $10K. Etc.

I swear to god I don't know who keeps coming up with all this money.

I'm just too damn cheap I guess.

  8. The Shelby Club has all the info on all the cars and what they came with. The members can get this info. So this may have been rare even for a Shelby for some reason or another. The owner may not have known this but I bet the buyer did in order for this to go so high as it seems to be about 20,000 to high. They are a blast to drive I dont talk about it here but there is a gt500kr in my shop I take out for weekend drives and go around the track ( My automotive preferance is anything that was crusing and street raceing in the mid to late 70's, Hot Rods, muscle cars, 55-7 chevys ect..). It was the center fold of in a couple of mags back when it was fresh quite a feat since it had been rolled prior to restoration. My ex and I drove it for a while to shows then started on the track so now it shows some wear. She kept it when we split and put 10 miles on it from the time we split and she expired. Now it is my sons he is 17 we got it running agin put on some sticky tires and I got a speeding ticket in the first 5 miles. I told my son we could make it back into a show car if he wanted or we could drive it and enjoy what it is, thank God he chose to dirve it ( I never could adjust to the show car people I'm more of a PBR man but my ex liked the Shelby and the club things). It is still quite a looker for a driver and gets plenty of attention. So where I am going is this car at least was not involved in a roll over so it can and will be rebuilt. The numbers that make this car a Shelby can not be transfered over to another car with out the VIN being moved along with it and the VIN is on these cars in multible places. I once pointed out to a guy his car was a fake and he did not like it so much got huffy and left the show we were at. So don't spend the money unless you have the car verified it is what it is said to be. Now just to redeam my self in that I belong here on the HAMB I am putting a photo of the last ride I built. SEE, I REALY AM NOT A GOLD CHAINER! I JUST HAD A EX WHO WANTED TO BE! Useless

Just a couple weeks ago I saw a 65 vette convert that was covered in mud on the sides, obviously driven in the bad rains we've had. That absolutely rules in my book. It was one of the coolest vettes i've ever seen, just because it was out and being used like a real car.

As car as mustangs go, I like my 67, but that restored 500 would have to be one FAST mother to be worth that kinda cash...

The price of that car is about par,I go to the mid american Shelby show,swap,&drag/slalom races in Tulsa,Okla.every year,I have seen worse sell for a lot more. That car may be worth more, shelby regestry can tell you everything about that car,It may be one of 14 sold that year with that transmission,or color. Then out of that 14 cars it may have been the only one with an am/fm radio or some shit,As far as the engine being changed, that is very common as 50% of those muscle cars owners blew up the engine the first few months they owned the cars, more so if they were standard shift,& the dealers were forced to replace them.Ford put a tag in the glove box of the thunderbolt fairlanes in 64'that specified the cars had no warrenty & were for off road use only. All muscle cars are thru the roof. There is an old man here that has a 64'427 lightweight galaxie, sitting under a tree, bought it new, don't need the money,he told me that a man from calif.tracked his car down with the Tx.registration information & offered him 60,000.for it but he is not about to sell.On a last note Carroll Shelby is still alive, weight until the legend dies & see what his cars will bring,I'll bet it will be out of site.

barret jackson sold a 67 Mustang that wasnt even an original shelby that was all built up for over 200grand. but they took the car to shelby american and they issued a number and a plate for it, and shelby signed the glovebox door himself.

but it wasnt an "original" shelby, they made it into one. if you have the cash, anyone could.

$200,000 for a fucking mustang. /gag. for that kinda money id rather have a closed car v12 ferrari of the same vintage, for half the money.

Something is definitely crooked on this sale.
We put up this 1966 Shelby with 8600 original miles on ebay and came no where close to those numbers. To top it off,
the guy backed out of the deal. I hate ebaying cars.

A guy that works at the grain elevator over in the next town has a 68 Shelby mustang. He bought it way back when he was in high school. I think it is funny that his car is worth more than he will make in 5 years and he won't sell it to all the guys that come around with more money than they know what to do with.

muscle cars never made since to me

  19. If you talk to economists these days you may hear them talk about "too much cash and not enough assets." I think they mean financials but we can all see it in the insane runup of property and real estate. Sort of like the end of the dotcom bubble when people were trying to predict the collapse.

There are going to be lots of folks left holding various bags.
