Great race except for the rain that came in the middle of round 2. The East Coast Gassers only got one round in. Lots of great race cars. Here's a few pics.

More action shots. All of these were taken by my son John, 12 years old.

We had a good time even with the heat. And now my 11 year old son is ready to start building his own gasser after this weekends race!

The Pirrone and Ellershaw race team descended on Englishtowns Raceway Park with FOUR Supercharged race cars! This was the first time we ran this many cars at one event....and I want to thank my crew for doing such a great job! All the cars ran great with the Screamin Eagle funny car running in the 6.80's and qualifying for the final round. We also had top speed of the meet for the class with a thundering 202 mph...! Even more special to me we took home two huge awards...The "Jungle Jim" showmanship award, AND the D.A. Santucci "Spirit" award...! These two awards are great honors as both men were heros to me as a kid growing up in the sport. We had three of our Willys coupes entered in the AA/GS match race class. Ken Hall driving our "Big Time Memories" 1941 Willys took home top honors with low ET of the gassers running a 8.29.....Mike Hall driving our K.S. Pittman tribute 1933 Willys ran a all time best 8.84..! and I drove the Boss Hydro to a 8.74 run over good friend and racing legend Fred Bear. Even though the final rounds were canceled due to rain, we look forward to making them up on August 18th, at the Night of Thrills at E-Town! I'd like to thank Walter Frey for putting on the BEST nostalgia show on the east coast, along with Barb Santucci for selecting us as the recipient of the D.A. Santucci award..your the BEST Barb..! I'd also like to thank Tom Fox for giving me a FAST race car to compete in, to Bill Ellershaw for maintaining all the cars and making sure they were all ready to go come race day! To Danny Ellershaw, Michele Fiel, Liz Louvas, Ken Freight, Mike Hall, Ken Hall, Devin Pirrone, Joey Pirrone and Sonny Titus for all their hard work and dedication!

Smoking em in......putting a show on is always job one!

Mike Hall boiling the hides on the K.S. Pittman tribute car! Mike's Dad Harry Hall drove the original for many years!

Ken Hall did a excellent job wheeling the "Big Time Memories to a class low 8.29 seconds!
Ken also pilots the "Secret Weapon" jet funny car of Al Hanna...

Ken and Mike Hall are brothers, and this was the first time they ever lined up against each other! Ken won by .001 seconds!

Rocky Pirrone has been a stand-up racer and strong advocate for the northeastern nostalgia drag racing scene for many years... He's long been a trusty part of E'Town's annual nostalgia drag race (through its various name changes and stages of metamorphosis)... The awesome collection of pristine cars (his Flopper & Gassers) that Rocky brought to the event this year was proof positive that he is one of the most hardcore nostalgia racers this scene will ever know... His performance with the "Screaming Eagle" F/C was nothing short of ground pounding old skool Flopper fantasia-- He earned his awards with flare and an ample dose of fury.... Rocky's rides from his gorgeous coral of Gassers were a fine feature for the enthusiastic crowd... This year's event had the strongest and most spectacular presence of Gassers I've ever seen--- Rocky's rides, along with the East Coast Gasser Association's contingent were out in full force and represented the genre in a way that surely impressed multi generations of spectators... I salute you all for giving so much and adding so much color to the E'Town event... The late Vinnie Napp, one of Raceway Park's founding fathers would be so proud to see how this nostalgia scene (and this particular event) has developed and blossomed... Yeah, we all endured the heat and humidity, but is was d*rn well worth it... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

  26. Rocky is the John Force/Don Schumacker of East Coast Nostalgia racing. Thanks for the show Rock.
