So I got my hands on this 1958 Chrysler Imperial with original low miles 392 Hemi... guy said he'd get me ALL the missing parts (as he is an Imperial parts guy in Phoenix AZ and has all the crap just lying around) but given that he is a parts guy, with admittedly NO mechanical expertise, when I called to let him know I was missing a few things- I've had to snail mail (NO EMAIL) back and forth photocopies of shop manual pages and photos of what I DO have and its getting a little frustrating. The last batch of photos I sent, showing parts off another pushbutton Chrysler trans I haves park brake drum (that goes on tail section of trans, and hooks to the driveshaft) got a rude response saying "I'm the expert, and imperials did not use ANY of these parts" well, given that IM under the car- and can see in the diagrams that the parking brake drum looks the same in the pics, and the one I HAVE matches up completely except for the splines on main shaft are larger (probably an older year) and has the same 4 threaded bolts to hook whatever flange, yoke, or whatever part it is that I'm looking for... I have a feeling if he's just gonna chalk up my help as foolish, then I'm gonna be sitting in this car (thats ready to drive almost- minus the installed propeller shaft!) for quite awhile waiting. The Chrysler Imperial manual shows EVERYTHING but what I need. Anybody an Imperial junkie or have one you can snap a photo or two of your complete assembly? 57-58 Only though.... I guess those are the only 2 years of this particular cars set-up. I'm attaching photos of what I have- I'm pretty sure I have a general idea of what I need, but its getting lost in the mail to this guy.
photos didnt show up on here- but they're in my photos on my profile under "chrysler trans help needed"
I'm not 100% clear on what you are missing, is it the correct park brake drum and hardware, or the driveline with the front trunnion joint? Please send me an e-mail at bigmauto@colusanet.com I'm sure that I can help. I have many many parts for these early torqueflites, and rebuild them too. ---John
Call this guy, for the life of me I can't remember his name, but he knows his stuff. http://www.imperialservices.net/
Thanks guys, much appreciated... I'll be emailing those of you who asked me to, and following those other links, suggestions.
