A good quality hem helps, but if you have pleats they might be a bit difficult to iron. Oh, and don't lift 'em for just anyone.

looks awesome to me! I love my moredoor too. Specially being a hard top. The window opening looks HUGE! I can (and do) load it up with people and everyone's comfy and relaxed. Plus, it's easier to get the groceries out of :p

I love the car and have owned lots of moredoors myself. I've often found the buy-in price of a rotten two door can amount to more than the entire build budget of a solid four door. With these old rides the lines are rarely spoiled by the extra doors and besides, I never leave the family at home so the extra doors are just practical for me. Honestly, the only people who've ever really given me grief are ricers or gold chainers anyway so who cares?

That is the reason I bought the car. I got a good deal on it and 2 doors are so over priced.

  12. for me I have to be driving it while I work on it or I'll lose interest..I say drive it out to the Showboat City Rumble in Chesaning on August 14th so I can see it in person!

Maybe I will bring it out for that one. I was shooting to have it on the road for "back to the bricks". I picked up some red paint and clear today, and hopefully my flake comes in so I can get that done Fri. night. Sunday I will start the T5 swap, and bags!

4 DOORS! Just means its easier for everyone to get in and enjoy the ride in a really sharp custom!

So its been a while since I worked on the car. The humity has been teribble, wish I had A/C in the shop! So I've been getting up at 4:30 am to block sand. I got all done with that and sealed it this morning. I have to stop after work tomarrow and grab my flake. Instead of red Im going with blue flake over silver base. If anyone knows of some one in Michigan that can lay some good stripes I need to find someone.

If your looking for an old time pinstriper that does excellent work get ahold of Ray Smith (Safariknut on here). You can't get any more traditional than Ray and he's one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.

    Lovin the progress!

Make sure you do a test panel on something to make sure that the blue flake over silver base is what you have in mind. You may opt for a blue base thats a bit darker than your flake once you see the results of the silver. Just my .02
Also, you could go with silver flake over silver base and spray blue candy.

Pros and cons to both methods:
Colored base, colored flake and clear coat. Make sure you have a deep clear coat over your colored flake. You dont want to blow through the clear and sand the blue off the flake. It looks crappy, ask me how I know! :) Its easier to get a solid, even color and easier for large projects, like full cars.

Silver base, silver flake, candy and clear. No worries when sanding the clear coat if you blow through, plus it matches the base coat perfectly and no contrast or freckle look.
Better for small jobs, like roofs, helmets, drum sets or gas tanks. Large projects like full cars... you better know how to spray candy or you can get "tiger stripes".

You may already know all that, but if not, just some friendly advice from someone that thinks he has a clue... ;)

Today I was able to get down a dark purple base coat and shoot my flake. I used old school flake with there gun. I thought it went good except for the pics, the top looks black.
