* If this has been done don't kill me . Please ! I do a lot of traveling this time of yearto car events as a vendor and talk to a lot of people while set up at shows .When I travel I always get excited when I see old cars Driven on the road .I ask people at shows where they are from and most people are locals . Does anyone travel (without trailers) anymore ? Question ,How far do you travel to events in your old car ? I'm talking about Diving .
You asking about "diving" or driving...??? Summers, around here, net at least 10,000 plus miles on my cars...yes, I said cars. I don't stay home when there's a rod run somewhere. Not only do I drive my cars, but I take in the sights along the way...and stay off the Interstates. PS, been doing it since 1977...still haven't seen all of the US thru the windshield of my hot rods... R-
Me and my two club mates drove from Tampa to Atlanta for the Dixie Fried show. About 450 miles one way. Drove straight thru. on the way back. 50, 51 and 55 Chevys.
I drove from Santa Barbara county up into the pacific northwest with my wife and 14month old (2,200 round trip) for a family vacation in our 1959 chevy wagon. Made it from Brookings, Oregon to the central coast on the last day too! And my buddy just drove his 65 fairlane wagon from California to Florida and then up to Niagra Falls, and then to Chicago and finally route 66 back to Los Angeles. We would be willing to get in our cars tomorrow and drive it anywhere in the country!
When I drove to the Merc Gathering in Sacramento,it was a 1000 mile trip. 500 there,a few more while I was there, then 500 back home....Haven't ventured out of state yet! But will next year...
About 50 miles a day, and my annual 1200 miles each way journey to the HAMB Drags with a bunch more thrown in...
Driving to a show this upcoming September on a 4500 mile route from San Diego to Indiana and back. Longest so far has been 2600 miles to north of Seattle and back in an open car for a show up there
When I had my 55 Chevy we drove in 38 of the 50 states and all the way across Canada. The longest single trip in it was from home to GG Pomona in 1991 or GG Seattle (couldn't spell Puwhatever). Also to Rhinebeck, Charlotte And Florida. The truck we have now has been driven to Phoenix (over 300 miles in the snow), The Round-up in Texas and Morris IL for the Hunnert. So far it has been driven over 25,000 miles. Our hot rods have enabled us to see country that we would not have seen if we did not drive them. Later, ****
My car is my daily, longest so far for just an event was HOT ROD O RAMA up in Tacoma, but that doesn't count because I used to work in WA. in the summer times. I used to load up and leave Phoenix on about July 1st. and head north to western Washington, where I would spend until Sept. !st working in 25 different R.V. parks up and down the Washington coast. Over those years I went to many different events up there and I miss it a bunch. For a long time I drove three or four days a week across Arizona to Yuma too. Hundred and eighty miles each way, plus whatever miles i put on running around town that day too. Did that for about five years. Tons of car shows in between!
im taking my truck on a 4000 mile round trip to a car show and back.... i love driving and seeing the sights you normally wouldnt see traveling any other way...
Father's Day weekend drove just over 600 miles round trip from Seattle to Dayton WA for All Wheels Weekend. Wasn't even close for Farthest Traveled award. Lost out to a guy who drove up from Texas.
My biggy each year is to the salt. About 1800 miles round trip with no major detours. In 2011 hope to do the HAMB Drags too.
Just did 1,844 miles with HotRodLadyCrusr, ******* in Big Olds, what a trip! Last June I did over 6,000 in my big adventure to the LA Roadster show in the Flathead '32 roadster. You gotta drive 'em!
For every one of us who drives our hot rods there are hundreds who don't leave their zip code without a trailer.
approx. 3500 miles total on Power Tour 2004 long haul Lubbock to Arlinton to Green bay and back. several trips to Roundup 800+ miles and once to HAMB drags
Route 66 last year in the sedan was 5200 miles total, I have 26,000 miles showing on my odometer. Flower has 16,000 miles on her flatty roadster since she built it in 2007. We drive 'em.
I drove 3500 miles to Texas for the round up. That was nor-cal to LA, Arizona, New Mexico and all over Texas sightseeing for A week. When the round up was over I went though Oklahoma to Kansas left the car and flew home. I flew back out did KKOA when it was over drove across Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada and back into califas that was another 1800 miles by myself well Blue collar Scott was behind me somewhere? All that in a car with a flathead six cylinder, still 6 volts, No radio and bias plys. Dave Hitch
I think it's safe to say most of the guys here drive their old cars long distances to shows or gatherings. I wouldn't trailer my car unless it wasn't running
I drove the '61 Suburban down to Billetproof FLA from Atlanta twice, the HAMB Drags last year, West Palm Beach three years ago, drove it to Martinsville Virginia two months ago, and just got back from a 3,000 mile round trip up to Indy, Ohio and Michigan. It's my daily driver, too.
I've trailered mine only once, but it was to Cobo Hall in the middle of winter, and really kinda had to. My longest drive was to the NSRA Nationals in Louisville. I always brag that I get about 24 mpg in my rod, which is better than my new model daily driver

tis year i drove my 38 Chevy from northeast PA to back to the 50's in Minnesota, 3500 mile round trip. Also have driver it to Nationals in Louisville in 03, Wyo**** in 99, and a number of other long runs. Never seen a trailer....
I've put over 109,000 miles on Big Olds over the last 8 summers. I usually do one 7-8,000 mile trip per year and a bunch of "little" ones, like the 1,800+ last weekend to the Salina KS KKOA event. I've been doing long, cross country events in my cl***ic cars since my hot pink '47 Ford in the mid-90's. Before that it was long trips in my Corvette, Fiero, or muscle cars. I've traveled like this since I've been 18 and "allowed" to hit the open road.
