Hopefully, youz guys out there will give us some excellent coverage! Gary From another car forum... HONORING DAN GURNEY The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will be honoring one of the true legends of motorsports-Dan Gurney - the Cars He Drove, the Cars he Built, August 13-15 and a selection of 24 of those cars will be on display for spectators to view and enjoy. "I am both humbled and blown away by what the Motorsports Reunion Management is putting together at Mazda Raceway," said Dan Gurney. "To see so many of the cars we have built over the last four decades ***embled in one place is an occasion for celebration. My gra***ude goes to the many car owners who were willing to bring the cars I raced so long ago to the show. Thanks for keeping history alive, thanks for the memories.
Stay tuned for photos! I've got the tickets ordered. Been to the Historics several times. looking forward to my favorite weeks of August!
One of the greatest racers of all time from an era that produced many greats that were true MEN! Guys like Foyt, Parnelli, Unser, Andretti -- an golden era
This site has some better pictures of the car my friend is bringing http://clunkbucket.com/1971-gurney-eagle-olsonite-indy-car/
I was lucky enough to see him race his F1 car at NurburgrIng. I still don't know how a guy that tall got in a car so small. When I saw him step out of it for the first time on pit lane, it was as if some medieval knight had just peeled off his armor! He seemed to wear it like a second skin. Gary
We ran against the McLeagle Can-Am car 2 weeks ago at Road America. Pretty amazing, some of the solutions Dan came up with for his cars. A true racing legend.
