Apologies for posting this twice, but I figured I'd like you'ze guys thoughts
I ran these adapted baby moons

for coupla years before swapping to these '54 NewYorkers

but I'm considering putting them back on chrome smoothies for a wilder early '60's look.

I also have some plain baby moons to throw into the pot.

Bear in mind before you make any suggestions that I have the chromies already in storage, and the kandy painted ones are badly scratched from the New Yorker covers. Also I'll be running the thinner of the two whitewalls.
Trouble is tryin' it out for myself in advance becomes a major issue when you have no hands:eek:
Looking for constructive opinions, please, not 'it's your car yadda yadda...'
    Thanks in advance
    Paul

    Moons with the spinners!

  5. I think the small moons with the three bar spinners make the wheel look sportier, a bit more "retro", and not as ***bersome & "heavy-shoe"'d as the the bigger wheelcovers do.
If it's a big heavy car, use the big heavy wheel, otherwise use the first one.

those moons with the spinners are the cats ***. i really dig 'em.

  7. The baby moon with the flipper is cool.......very reminiscent of the old
days when guys invented their own spinners. Back in the early 60s I
took a set of 1957 Ford full wheel covers and attached some Olds like
3 bar spinners purchased from an auto store. Looked pretty good.

the baby moons are sweet , but with the thinner white walls i'd say chrome smoothies would work best

I like the adapted moons in the fist shot. A set of ribbed dress rims would be a nice finisher.

This is how she is right now(she now has the thinner whitewall shown in 2nd picture).I'm in no hurry for now,but I have this habit of not knowing when to just leave the **** alone.I'm trying to decide whether or not I'd be improving her, giving her a legitimate different a look for the future or just jerking off.remember we're talking early '60's Kustom here, more than Hot Rod

Colin,I'm talking 'bout putting the moons with flippers ON the chrome smoothies

I'm all for the Chromies and the wild baby moons. Can't give you an answer on tires though I'm not a big fan of white wals of any type on my own cars. Nothin' wrong with them its just not my style.

The spinner moons with a chrome trim ring might look cool.

    Oh....this is a tough one.
I hate to weasel out on having an opinion, but, either way you have a winner.
It's kind of like trying to decide whether to spend the weekend with Jessica Alba or Halle Berry.....
Live it up and take 'em both and swap 'em around when you feel like it
(I'm talking about the hubcaps, of course...I would never take advantage of a beautiful women....)

I did some really quick Photoshops...
Did not have time to add the smaller white walls... well probably had the time, but I like the taller better :)

    As is

    Chrome reverse

    With the spinners added

    Red wheels with the spinners

    And Vista Four Bar Flippers.

I like the custom-made moons....but with a little less whitewall. Maybe a 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" whitewall. With the metalflake and scallops, you are in the early/mid sixties and that size whitewall would be more appropriate, in my opinion. You don't want the tire/wheel combination to overpower the paint. Keep it understated on the rubber and hubcaps....
Larry Watson would have been grinning if he got to see your ride!

edit: Wow! Rikster really fixed you up there! Now you have multiple choices!

I love your idea of the chrome moons with the moon caps you had on the candy wheels. I think it sounds PERFECT. Love the panel btw...

To be honest I like the way it is, or the version with the chrome reverse. I think just running the modified baby moons will be too much red overall. It needs the chrome or the current caps to break some of the red up in my opinion.

I vote for real chrome reverse (not chrome smoothies) or leave it as-is. And I have to agree with Rikster, the wider whites are working better for me too.
