Hey Moose! Glad to see you're still cranking out the manifold set-ups. Does your special top secret fuel mixture go with those?
Jeepers, just straight through linkage, you can't run them any other way, they both run together under all conditions. As I recall there's differences in the accelerator pumps and in various kits. Luckily I had a bunch of cores sitting from all the sixes I've had, so I found a pair of goosdcarbs. They have to be the same, as well as all the jets, float needles, etc. I disconnected the chokes on both carbs, don't need 'em in Florida. I wish I could be more detailed but I did the job 4-5 years ago, I've forgotten a lot. I also run a Pertronix.
I'm with V8minor, Carter-Webers and headers on the way. Also getting a new long block, because i threw a rod for my Christmas present! 113,000 mile daily driver.-MIKE Langdon electronic ignition conversion.
Hey V8minor & Lost Angel, What did you have to do to jet the Webers? I just got my 235 with dual webers started up the other day; haven't had much time to mess with it but I know its running mega rich. Photo below. Yes, I know about copper lines...
doesn't that engine torque away from the fuel block? That'd be an ugly fire if one or both of those lines popped off and pumped onto the exhaust manifold... I had that happen in an '02 Chevy Suburban when the power steering hose let go and pumped onto the manifold. Filled an entire city block with white smoke and had a nice bon fire under the hood. If I hadn't had an extenguisher handy it would've burned to the ground. Should've let it in hindsight... It would have been a bomb if it had been fuel instead of power steering fluid, I think I'd re-do those lines if it were me... Pete
The filter is a cartrige type fuel filter. I originally had Rochester carbs on the motor, so the lines came out a tad short. Moved the fuel block.-MIKE
(59 apache) Here's my stock 235 with the early head that had the 2 valve cover bolts on the top. I got rid of the vac advance and added a pertronix set up. RUNS LIKE A CHAMP! I plan to upgrade to the 2bl Holly from Stovebolt and split the exhaust... but not until I got a better drive train that will let me go past 60 on the hwy.
I Have only fired her up , I got them from Langons stovebolt, he sold them for the 235 so I hope I do not have to jet them. I have to get the exhaust sorted and the gas line run to the tank . Still a long way before she will be on the road.
Here's the original 235 in my 53. I havn't bought the valve cover yet..it'll be finned aluminum.. I put a split manifold on it though. First inline i've owned.. lot's of people ask me when i'm gonna drop in a bent eight, i just relpy, never. I really like it, even though i havn't driven it more than 2 time's since i bought it..i started cutting it up before i had a chance.. For as long as i own this car, it'll alway's be an inliner. This one will remain stock. I have another 58 235 that i'll build later..as the 'hot' motor. Tony
I like the smooth 216 in my 50 Chevy and I like the little "log head" sixes Ford put in the Falcon/Comet's. With a little work and some fins there is a beast in every one waiting to get out. (Often through the side of the crankcase) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/Powerband/YEEHA_WEB.jpg
[ QUOTE ] Good looking motor, Pakrat- what'd you paint it with? [/ QUOTE ] Thanks. I used the same paint i used on the body.. ICI base-clear urathane.. Believe it or not, if you prep it real good it will last. It's the third motor i've painted with this paint, and the other two have held up great. absolutely no problems, even on the heads.

Ratrod40428, Engine runs great! With the H/W carbs and the B/W 5 speed trans it delivers the mail! Has air conditioning and will deliver 18-20 mpg! Stock radiator keeps it cool with electric fan assisting. The engine is in our 47 Chevy sedan and it pulls a 26 foot travel trailer to car shows! Has GM 10 bolt rear with a 3:55 gear.
