    I have a straight six in my 51.... Sadly, it's a bone stock 216.

We have plans to go up a notch to the next inline 6 (238?)and setting it up for dual carbs, etc.

The 216 is doggy for sure but once you get past the lack of bottom end power it does run smooth as silk for crusing. I have no problems maintaining good highway speeds with my current setup. I'd probably even entertain the idea of rebuilding this engine if it had a little more umph but I'f I'm pulling the engine out, I might as well upgrade.

My dad's friend used to run sixes in all sorts of cars and had hopped up sixes that could beat V8's.

For what it's worth... I think sixes just look cool.

Wow this one was dug up from the depths! Back then my 216 was still alive!

Now my perfect and wonderful 235 is just about ready to go in (dual exhaust with glass packs, dual carbs soon and VROOOM!... She's gonna kick ass!

I'll stick to the Straight Eights, nothing beats them for smooth delivery of power, except maybe a V12.

When I ever finish my current project, my next one will be powered a 235 six. A buddy of mine gave me an old 235 that must be rebuilt. He also gave me a McGurk intake for it. Last week he called and said he found the carbs and linkage for it too! I asked how much and he said to buy him a beer sometime. His dad was into sixes and left him a lot of stuff that doesn't interest him. [IMG]

With a screen name like mine need you ask? I have a 57 302 Jimmy overbored 40 to make 308. I m bulding a 3x2 intake for 97s and using a set of fentons for exhaust. I got a howard f290 cam. All this goes into a 48 GMC half ton. I want to build an A sedan with a Jimmy next. Jay

For pictures of the Australian HEMI "6", go to www.hemiperformance.com.au/. It's a good site with racing and performance info, as well as availability in the US.

53 ford 215 six, .60 over, decked, cam, header, stock manual trans. Still waiting for Intake.

  13. I have to do the initial mockup, but this (Fenton 2x1 and 2 glass bowl Holleys) is going on a 223 Ford, homemade headers, 3sp. 8" Mustang rear, A frame, '27 T RPU body, with square postal Jeep gas tank between the rails of a curved kickup from a '46 Ford frame, '40 Ford front axle, '51 F-1 brakes and steering with 1/4 elliptics, '59 Edsel track nose, '34 commercial headlights. If all goes well this may be the car I try my wheel pants idea on.

A CHEV. inline six with a split manifold, is one of the few engines that sounds better than a FLATHEAD!
They, everything else being equal, are also FASTER!!!
The ones with babbit bearings sort of suck though.
    Just my opinion.

Here's mine so far - 49 Chrysler Spitfire 6. Hope to have her running by Spring. Then maybe upgrade to a dual intake and exhaust.

My poor boy, stock 223. It runs, so I'm not changing anything until I have to. I keep trying to ebay goodies for it, but someone has more money than I do. I have 3 carbs so far, and that's it.
