For any 1955 1956 1957 CHEVROLET 2 or 4 door POST car (SEDAN). REAR GLASS, USED NEEDED. ANYWHERE in Australia, but if you're anywhere in the same part of the country as: Black Forest, SA 5035 It'd make shipping it to him cheaper, too. But that might be too much to ask for, as I am sure spare rear glasses for those cars are few and far between there, anyway! Please let me know any leads, and your price requirements (used ones). THANKS! Figured if I'd have luck asking anywhere, might as well thrown it out here...trying to locate something for someone. Thanks in advance!
gots to be one closer than Dallas...Pontiacs are the same...have one in storage...shippings the deal breaker...what's the place that sells new ones?...seen them at the better swap meets...wonder if they ship?
Try: Classic chev parts. Ron Wicks. PH (03) 9381 1955. He is in Melborne, had heaps of parts last time I was there, not sure on glass though, worth a try.
Good start, thanks. Can you possibly dig up a website or e-mail address, too (dialing is such a pain, and it's $$...trying to do the legwork for someone else...on the cheap). If no, I can figure it out. I have called Aust. before.
Google works in Australia too. Second listing on the 1st page http://www.classicchevparts.com.au/ SKYPE is also the best tool ever when doing OS business.
Yep - you're too quick, sorry - I was just going to say, never mind. I was thinking he meant a hobbyist...I know a lot of those in the US. Then I aw he said a business name. Got him...has a site...sells repro. stuff, but no repro. glass... E-mailed him. Maybe he'll have a used one like I want to find. ====== Anyone else know any wreckers with old american stuff, or a hobbyist with a stash? (Skype - good tip). THANKS in advance.
Try Automotive Technologies of Australia Pty Ltd who are in Ballarat, Vic www.automotivetech.com.au They advertise front screens for US cars from 49 and rear screen rubbers but don't mention rear glass. Might be worth a try as the add in the magazine I'm looking at is old and things may have changed. swifty
Seems they just do rear seal reselling, like you said. Anyone else know of a used one, or a Chevy hobbyist that might part with one? I will follow up with the 2 guys mentioned, for sure.
====== ...Tried him cannot help. So it has to be a used one over there. No one there imports the repros. from the US to resell. And it'd cost almost $1000. to buy a new one here and ship it there...and take months! Anyone? THANKS.
55 56 57 Classic Chevrolet Club of South Australia Inc. PO Box 55 , Greenacres, SA 5086 Ph. 0407 00 1957 If someone in the tri-chevy club can't help your mate I'd be surprised. There's just a few of these cars running around Adelaide. Just a few. Louie
Try John Cain in Newcastle/Hunter Valley NSW. Has a web site under same name. His son exports to Australia, shipping regulary. So he says.
Hey guys - thanks a LOT to all those with the great leads. Actually one of the people mentioned had one, and even delivered it TO where it was needed. Unbelievable! Australian folks are the nicest. Gotta love this site.
Yep. That's why the birds dig us so much, coz we're the best blokes this side of the black stump. lol. Glad your mate found his bits. Louie the fly
