Emilio's car came back from the body guy yesterday. It still needs to be block sanded to be ready for paint, but all the rust is now gone. Yesterday we redid the steering, since the body guy took it upon himself to replace the firewall and eliminated the mounting points that were there, and pulled the body off. Now, time to finish the ch***is.
Eric, yes we had the wheelbarrow firewall and the body guy changed it without asking about it. Kind of a point of contention. Because he filled the steering column hole, we had to redo the steering before we pulled the body, but it worked out well. The plan is to try to finish the ch***is this week, so we can slip in the 496 big block when it comes back from the engine builder. You should come by and see the thing. The red is some kind of epoxy that the body guy threw on there to protect the paint, he may actually run the car with it for this summer and then blow it apart for paint during the winter.
hey-thanks for posting those pics. ya-he sprayed two caots of primer on, then that red epoxy paint. we are doing some serious work on the ch***is and are making a ton of progress thanks to my bro (salcheeza) and wayfarer!
The body guy is a local guy who works out of a shop behind his house. The ch***is work is all being done by us in the shop behind emilio's house. Approximate due date, sometime this spring. In the last two days, we've finished the shock crossmember, built a crossmember with a driveshaft loop and got the gas tank mounted to the body so we can put it on the ch***is and start working out the trailer hitch. After that, it's time to tear it apart and paint the ch***is. We'll get it done before too long.
