    better than sitting on the floor like i had to..well maybe not.
    but i survived.

    we were born to mothers that smoked and drank..slept in cribs covered in lead based paint...you know the song

    only the strong or tuff survived i guess...sure different with the darwin award winners we got today

    We never even bothered with car seats when I was growing up in the 60's and 70's. I never even knew what one was back then. Of course, never bothered with seat belts either and the parents always had to make sure they had a nice cold one for the start of most trips. Car was always full of smoke too. Not everything about the good old days was all that good and some of it was down right scary.

    My Mother would still do that when she was in Her 60's if I was in her car.

    Did you look if the car had a flower vase on the dash as well?
