I finally had some time to work in my car last night. I cut the coils and put blocks in the rear. It still rides well, and the tires don't rub at all. I'm happy, and think this is a vast improvement in the looks as opposed to stock. I apologize. All i had was my cell phone to take the pics. -Chad
I cut 2 and wasn't happy so I cut another 1/2 coil out. 2 and 1/2 total. Anymore and I would have rubbing issues.
Thanks! At first I couldn't make up my mind, but decided to stick with skinny whites. Anything else would overdo it. Bring the back down a little more, recover the seats, and drive the piss out of it for now. If all works out I will bag it this winter.
Thats awesome. When I was 16 I bought a Meteor identical to that from my high school art teacher. He drove it up here from AZ, so it was a very dry car. But the tranny leaked really bad and I didn't know squat about automatics (still don't ) so I sold it to a friend. That car looks awesome man!
Great looking car!! After cutting 2-1/2 coils and sitting that low, is there much suspension travel left in the front? Malcolm
Surprisingly yes there seems to be adequate travel (for a lowered car that is). It still rides nice, but has to be driven like any other hammered car. As long as you can read the road your good. Az has bad ass roads for the most part. Not many pot holes.
Looks good. Good thing Az has great roads. My '61 is too low (never thought I would say that) Cut coils and 4" blocks. I'm in the process of redoing the suspension.
I know, right. My wife asked me if I was feeling alright when I said that. I bought the car that way, so I don't know how many coils were cut. The coils and leafs have definately settled over the years. It sucks when you have to go over numerous speed bumps to get out of where you live. Not trying to hi-jack your thread but I'm trying to purchase 3" front and rear lowering springs from a well known company if they will ever get back to me (going on 2 weeks now). Guess some people don't like money
