In all my vehicles I drive until the needle gets below the 1/2 mark and hit a gas station. Fuel mileage is a relevant question. how much does your right foot weigh?? That is the biggest factor.
Well right now I'm on shanks mares and I don't get very far before they give out. Last ride went about 200-230 miles on a tank but I usually went looking for gas when I hit 150. Have no idea what my next driver will do but I'm sure it won't be good.
I have no idea, I just keep driving until the guage tells me its time to fill up again. That always seemed like a good plan of action to me.
Tank capacity X mileage = distance on tank All of us have different size tanks and different mileage. Some of my buddies in Texas in the seventies ran with a guy with a T bucket with a five gallon tank that got about 15 mpg and about the time they got running good on the highway he had to stop for gas. Fill your tank, drive X miles and fill it again and figure the mileage and then multiply the mileage by capacity of the tank and you will get the range for your vehicle. My truck was good for 400 miles but my **** was good for 200 so gas stops were at around the 2oo mark.
My 41 Chevy got 20 mpg, My 32 Chev with fairlane qrts & blown Desoto gets about 20, and I'm hoping My 60 Camino will get 20 or better, the 56 Ford I just got rid of got 10, cause now that My gas station is closed I do care about mileage. Von Doc
Nope. I meant relevant: having some sensible or logical connection with something else such as a matter being discussed or investigated. Meaning it depends what engine is in question, how much fuel is available in the tank, and how hard my fellow car enthusiast stabs the throttle........
That's pretty much what I was asking...I'm kinda in the same boat. 10 gallon tank and won't try to stretch it much more than 100 miles (highway driving).
Forums always seem to have someone with a rotten, rude at***ude, but I'm not bothered...I'm the forgiving type.
I have a 26 gallon tank in mine. It came out of a K5 Blazer. I get around 18mpg on the highway if I keep the speed around 65, but I usually run over 70, and I can't keep my foot out of it around town. To me the MPG is irrelevant, I just get gas when the gauge shows 1/4 or so.
