stopped on the side of the road is VERY dangerous! that's why you see the cops park a half car width further out into traffic than the car they stop.

driving old cars, we are more apt to find ourselves by the side of the road, make sure your children and other p***engers are in the car or off to the shoulder or in front of the car, avoid being behind the stopped car, or on the side of traffic, and if you must be there, watch the traffic! be careful in between cars too.

when people watch activity on the side of the road, they instinctively steer towards the stationary object despite their intentions to steer away, considering a group of old cars is guaranteed to draw eyes, be very cautious.

Bummer about the damage, but at least all will be ok.

I'd be interested in seeing photos on how the chasis held up. Chevrolet had the same basic frame up to 54. maybe learn something to do or not do.

  5. Car looks clippeed. It's interesting to me that most of the damage is to the nose of the car and the body held up well, especially since it appears the hit was off-center at the front, the same as that 59 Chevy crash test they did recently.

Good to hear no major injuries to those invovled. Pain is no fun.

For the sake of the owners of the cars involved lets hope he had damned good insurance and plenty off coverage.

    X2!

If the frames are basically the same through '54, there's no doubt- that upper control arm is way too long and curved.

Not that this matters much- what matters most is healing for the owners.

Man I hate to see a fellow 38 Chevy owner loose his ride. That ****s big time! By the way, Chevy used the same frame and front end design in Corvettes thru 1962.

^yup. When people ask me whether or not I'm putting a MII or jag front suspension under my Chevy, I tell them I'm going with a Corvette unit.
