i'm new to all of this stuff on the computer.i'm 61 years old and have been into cars since i was 12 at which time i bought my 1st car,a 1956 ford 2-door,272 v-8 with 3-speed manual w/o/d.it had a blown engine con. rod.ate the crank.so i started a build up which i finished when i was 16.made lots of mistakes but learned a lot.my daily driver during hi school was a 1957 studebaker commander 2-door sedan w/259 v-8,3-speed manual.i put a j.c.whitney cam and floor shifter in it.the person i bought the car from had redone the interior in tuck and roll(black&white)was a good car i used my 56 ford for serious hot rodding.bored the 272 out to 305,had fenderwell headers home made tunnel ram intake with 2 roch.4-barrels and a t-10 4-speed,one piece fibergl*** front end,and a dana rear with 4:27 gears out of a 56 ford wagon.a real winner(won more races than i lost).i did install a 57 stude v-8(289 no its not a ford engine)in a 55 chevy conv.it was the 275 hp version(supercharged).the car was a real fireball, had more loew end tq than the sbc,got great mpg too.

went into the army 1967 went to vietam and se asia.came back in 73.i'm retired from the po.and use to own an mobile auto repair business in nova in the 70's-80's.owned a lot of cars in my life time will post later.but the bottom line is that i've raced on the street, oval ,and strip for most of my life.sold everything when i retired except for 3 sheds of parts, thought i would never want another hot rod after i retired but was wrong.working on a 1928 chevy p/u which will be powered by a 304.5 cid studebaker v-8,with 2x4 and a mustang 5-speed manual.

well got a little winded, will be back later charlie richter

    Hey Charlie,

    Welcome from Oklahoma!

  6. Welcome from Rockmart GA, and I actually know where Pendergr*** is. Henrietta the '38 Ford pickup and Ozelle the '55 Ford send friendly horn honks. I would love to have seen the Studebaker powered '55 Chevy, that probably caused some Chevy guys to have dying duck fits.
