Without being political or racist, the problem is a black man could get away with it but a white man probably not. It was meant in jest though. Sorry if it was taken the wrong way. Then again what if the Black Power's owners was black ? Whole different senario once again. I think today Id pick a different name like White Lightning or Black Magic if they were mine.
It is great to see the crew here on The H.A.M.B. The guy on the left in the white shirt is Wayne Cairns in the back row. Kneeling left to right is Bob Burrows, guy in front of Greg Xakellis is Bill Carns, and far right is Terry Bell. Boy, do I look good at the memory? Not really, Greg Xakellis has this very photo in his archives and had the guys' names on the back. Hope this helps you all out! Thanks for thinking of us. We would like to see all at the 10th Annual Musclecar Madness at the York Reunion on July 8-9, 2011 celebrating A Decade of Presenting Nostalgia Memories. Stay well, and we hope to see you there! Head Ned
The guy in the white shirt in the back row on the left is Wayne Cairns, kneeling left to right is Bob Burrows, going across to the guy in front of Greg Xakellis is Bill Carns, and far right is Steve Bell. Not my memory but Greg's files with the names on the back of the photo. See you at the 10th Annual York Reunion on July 8-9, 2011. Stay well.
Class-Racer, The 61' Vette 283/230HP 4-speed ran in L/S (12.50-12.99 wt/hp) 70'/71' or SS/N in 72'. The 61' Vette 283/230HP automatic ran in M/SA (70'/71') or SS/OA in 72'. pc
67 W-30, I do believe 'Hoods' were optional in A/FX. Being "Eye" talian, I never took offense when some funny lettering was on a car. ie; 'Dago-Meister',,, 'Dancin-Dago',,,'Slick-Wop',,, 'IL Duce Deuce' My favorite,,,'The Facist Fiat', 1969 Fiat Spider in I/G PC (no harm, no foul)

Kid-Pony, In 1967, the Ford Mustang GT was available with a 289/200HP engine. (2-barrel), 4-speed and dual exhaust, and 3.50 gears with posi. Our friend had one, and it ran in L/Stock in 1968 (14.00-14.99 wt/hp), and M/Stock in 1969. Ran at New York National in 1969, AHRA class (maybe H/Compact or something like that), and won. pc
I few people here know I had owned this car for a very long time, then finally had to give up on the idea of bringing it back as a race car (not knowing it's heritige). After finally selling it to the actual guy who raced it back then, and just recently, selling him a full set of NOS side moldings (un-obtainium), I find that it is for sale. I guess he's decided not to take the time to bring it back. I think it's priced too high (my personal opinion) but here's the listing http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/1872018890.html I wish someone would decide it's worth bringing back as the "Mousetrap" rather than just using it as a body for ANOTHER bubbletop 409 clone. I have no connection to this car other than memories (dreams and plans). Just thought I'd mention it. Verne Only one other comment: Let's get off the PC correctness theme, biased or true or not, and get on with Junior Stock discussions. Let's not dilute this fine thread. Verne

K-P. For 1968, The 57' #210 Sedan Chevy 283/220HP with an automatic ran in M/SA The 57' 'Handyman Special' 283/220HP with an automatic ran in N/SA. Gary of 'Hatch's All-American' had a 57' Handyman Special. Out of Peekskill, New York. Ran 14.80's. Was classed in N/SA and O/SA Was always in $tock Eliminator at Dover, NY. Did pretty good too! Saw his engine. Had all the good stuff. Elmsford Speed Parts Centre put it together. If you had a Chevy, that was the place to go for performance engines. pc
Ha-ha-ha... Yes, Tweed, tis all in fun and jest. Something the hyper-sensitive commissars of political correctness and uppity "people of color" are devoid of is: a sense of humor! I say: F-them! Back to a more pleasant subject... Pete
Tweed, that pic reminds me of a black 1967 HEMI Dodge Coronet R/T super stocker featured in one of the east coast magazines in my collection (Rodder & Super/Stock, Super Stock & FX,etc. I forget which) in a circa 1968 issue with the same name. Could be the same guy. Pete
Pete, You crack me up with your 'verbage'. Helmets, we don't need no stinkin' helmets. How about a nice 'cupolini'. pc
This thread has been a real joy for me. Although, on the way to work this morning I was thinking about it and some of the cars being discussed. I think we all lived through or had behind us the passing of Hudson and Studebaker and others. But who would have ever believed that Plymouth, Oldsmobile, Pontiac would no longer exist.
No Grenade tossing here. On the question thread. Don Grotheer ran the 68' SS/B Hemi Cuda 'Cable Chrysler-Plymouth' car at the 68' Springnationals. A 4-speed car. He was Runner-Up to Ronnie Sox in Super/Stock Eliminator, who won with the 67' R/O SS/D Belvedere (w/GTX lettering). The Cuda was all white, with the famous 'Cable Chrysler-Plymouth' lettering on the door. At Indy, the car had the orange and green stripe. Ran in SS/BA (#723). I think Don owned the car by then (purchased from Cable). Had the heart-shaped and hammer design on the door. At the 69' Winternationals, he ran in SS/BA. Won class and S/S Eliminator, and set SS/BA ET and MPH record. Won SS/BA class at the 69' Springnationals. pc
I was being diplomatic lest I be banned for "telling it like it is." There's a time and place for everything and this ain't the place for that. Regards, Pete
Pete, Very Nice. Your still throwing fastballs, and will not let up. Looks like Big Ed Mustapha's car. From "The Enforcer' (1976 Dirty Harry movie) pc
I've always liked those big-block, four-speed mid-sized cars--of all brands. Thanks for the photos. Presumably this wagon had a 427/425 engine in it to run in D/Stock. Anyone know who this is? Pete
I'm just warming up. I'll have to check it out again. I've always liked (most) of Eastwood's movies, especially his early stuff. Regards, Pete
