Bonneville and Beyond 2010 is officially starting! After over two years of planning and dreaming and researching and booking and buying and worrying and waiting my 50th Birthday dream trip is finally here! Bonneville and Beyond Big Birthday Bonanza 2010 starts tomorrow morning. We've packed the suitcases (6 suitcases, 4 empty). We've checked and double checked our tickets and p***ports and most importantly our bank account. We're ready! We fly out of Copenhagen International airport Wednesday afternoon and arrive 8 hours later at JFK International airport. Once on the ground, we plan to grab a yummy bite to eat at the Rodeo Bar in NYC and the journey OFFICIALLY starts. The 1950 Advanced Design Chevrolet Panel Truck has a few loose ends to tie up when we hit the ground in New Jersey and then we embark on our cross country and back again trip. Hot Rod Scott has worked hard to make this Chevy ready for us and we gotta say if it weren't for him, we'd either be doing it in a Prius Rental or in something not nearly as cool. So without further adieu THANKS HOT ROD SCOTT and DAN and CKGG and SMITTY and THE PROFESSOR and MORTY and STAN and JIM and REDD and BILL and JERSEY PETE and ROBERT and anyone else who contributed to making my 50th birthday present and trip a reality! I truly have the most incredible friends on the planet! Here's our loose itinerary: New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey. If we're coming through or near your neck of the woods, please let us know we want to come hang out with you! Follow this thread daily we'll be posting pictures and crazy stories from the trip. We'll see some of you in Bonneville, others of you on our journey and the rest of you we'll see you out there! Kuztom Klaus and SinDLicious
Well, let me be the first to welcome you in advance. It sounds like a heck of a trip. I am looking forward to seeing this journey develop in the coming days.
Look me up at Bonneville, I'll be behind the wheel of '57 F-100 (981) the "Flying Yellow Brick" Hope you have a great time in the US! See you there.
Safe travels. If you get to SoCal, you've got a room to crash in if you want. Otherwise, I'll see you guys on the salt. I'll be there Saturday through Wednesday.
I'll be at The Bend in The Road from the 10th of August untill I feel like leaving! I have the old Harley Chopper with the Old Crow Speed Shop logo on the tank. Will be at the Salt talks on Sat. nite. Look me up and we'll discuss what ya want to do when you p*** thru Arizona. We have a small ranch about 20 miles from Tombstone , Bisbee etc. Your more than welcome to spend all the time you need to see the sites. Look me up, Crow, (That is my real name also!) and we'll talk. Good luck on your travels and may Grandfather smile on your miles! Crow.
Hey Y'all We picked up the Panel Thursday afternoon and drove it to Haddonfield NJ, the next town over. We're gonna tinker a little with it today, 'cause it'll need carb rebuild, fuel pump, timing adjust, points, condenser and stuff like that! The truck looks great and I'm tickled pink about driving this Beast! Will post pictures today after our little garage session. Klaus & Cindy
Hi Klaus and Cindy....... I will love this thread and following you adventure online!! Love you both!!

See you Friday the 13th at the salt. Sounds like you are doing pretty much the same trip but we are doing the southern route on the way out and the northern back home so we can hit the blue suede cruise in Norwalk Ohio the weekend of the 21st.
So glad to hear you got to drive the barge already! Tune it up and roll! See you Sunday or Monday in Michigan!
any info of a meet & greet on the salt? 41picup, any webinfo on the bay area meet? I'm planning to go to Famoso and the summer meet but plans might change. Any other LA happenings around the 23rd?
I bet it will be the trip of a lifetime. I cant make it to the salt this year, and I have the salt fever, BAD! Have Fun!! Kenny.

We're having some engine and wheel issues with the Panel, things are not working out the way we planned. Is there anyone out there who knows what kind of 6 lug 16" wheels that will fit? We've been looking at a set off of a '04 Chevy van, but they had too much negative offset and they hit the inner fenders and all. The rims can be max 6" wide, but preferred no more than 4" neg. offset. We can be reached at: 1 856 419 3721. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Klaus and Cindy
If anything is needed going across the long flat plains of Nebraska, give me a call, 402-679-1739. Lots of people thru the state that have garages and support. Have a blast. ~Sololobo~
Okay ... here's the deal! We have pulled the straight six out of the panel ... piston rod issue, can't risk driving 7000+ miles with it in this state. The rims that we got for the 1/2 ton axel are totally shot, and have had NO luck finding replacements yesterday in several junk yards. Plus a questionable drive shaft. We COULD fix the piston rod at another high cost we didn't anticipate and be on the road by the end of this week ... OR ... we can borrow an engine from my former boss and good friend, Jim, for the trip, shouldn't be too hard to replace the main seal and throw it in ... OR ... we can leave today driving Jim's PT Cruiser. Weighing all our options and trying to do the most practical thing ... we will now be driving the BONNEVILLE AND BEYOND 2010 in a PT Cruiser. ****s that we can't make the panel truck ready without spending a ton more money and another several days of work ... So PT Cruiser it is ... definitely won't be as cool, but then it's more important to DO the trip than WHAT we do it in! So we're off to Michigan today to hang with Dan and his family for a day before he goes on a business trip. We'll keep posting our journey here ... even though the "car" factor is being taken out of the adventure, we'll still post our cool happenings here. See ya out there kids! Klaus and Cindy
I'm glad you decided to do the the PT option, it's you guys doin the trip, not the panel truck. Now. try to relax and enjoy your trip and we will make something out of the truck when it's in Sweden Love you guys.
Hay guys, your trip sounds great. If you are comming through Tulsa,Ok and are going to stop i would be glad to show you around.I have a 40 Ford Coupe with 59 Caddy tail lites so my car is part Custom so we should get along just fine. Cool to hear you're running Klaus. See you when you get here. I'll dig for rims here. I had some 6 lugs left but not many. I can throw them in the truck and get them to NJ as I go east on Wednesday.
Have a great trip! Too bad that it didn`t work out with the panel, but I`m sure you'll have a blast in a pt cruiser too! I look forward to follow your trip through photos!
