I received this picture from a fellow racer who uses a lot of my stuff. Here is Bob Beazer leaning against the tire of the hemi jeep project. I heard he was just to tired to climb in after a full weekend of "performing". This was Sunday night when they were getting ready to load the car. As you know the Hemi jeep was sold to the Taggz Program and is now owned by Vern Christy. Rumour is it is getting a "done" AMC 6 cyl. In fact the engine is currently sitting in front of my shop. Vern is an old AMC nut and needs to get back in the driving side having spent the last 22 years keeping tracks running instead of running down them. It was for me nice to see my project on display and also great to see the old guys again. I have know Beazer since the late 60s. What ticks me off is he doesnt look any different now than then and yet I believe he is 14 years older than me. Don
That's the man. Beez is an important part of Drag Racing History. Bob doesn't have the Willys now. He sold it a few years ago. He is still active at most Nostalgia Flea Market type events. Always shows up with loads of interesting parts & pieces.
Thanks for the compliment on the Body. I can't take credit for it. Don mocked up a wooden buck in the basic shape he was looking to achieve. Had our good buddy at Noronco in Belleville do the final aluminum Body. Turned out great. It's the only one out there! Thought long & hard about color choice. Finally opted for Hummer Yellow & had First Guaranty prep & spray it.
A photographer gave me a photo of Beazer and my vintage style dragster in the staging lanes at Flatout Weekend 2010. Today while searching through a 63 Hot Rod annual I came accross Bob Beazer At the Summernationals on the line in hs raindance uniform bewteen a pair of dragster in 1963. one is not a lot difffeent in looks from mine. For those with the old books check out bottom of page 217 Hot Rod Yearbook 1963. I would scan it in but probably not the right thing to do. Anyway, it blew me away to realize there is Bob Beazer in my photo from Flatout 2010 doing his thing some 47 years later just the same as in the old hot rod annual from 1963. Someone who has been involved in the sport for 47 years at least well there must be someway to make sure their efforts are remembered. Don
Noob here. Waking up an old thread, mainly because Bob and Joanie Beazer, as usual with no warning, came by to say hi this past fall (here in deepest BC). You're right, he doesn't change much!! We've known each other since early 60's, when I lived in Mtl. and crewed on Jim Adams' Karbelt B Altered. Going to Deseronto always involved a pretty rockin' party at Bob's farm. News is, he's putting another Willys together and hopes to be exhibiting it next summer. Last time I was east, (2004) we went to Rini Bros shop and there was their old slingshot freshly restored! Gorgeous then, still is now. Nice to find this site and mention of Bob. Paul
