So it looks like a new project has fallen into my lap. According to Mr. Green it is roadworthy, but I suspect some additional work will be involved before I feel comfortable hurling it down the freeway on a daily basis. I'm digging the crusty wabisabi vibe, so I'm not planning on doing much of anything to the exterior just yet. Tweaking the stance a bit and sorting out the drivetrain/making it reliable are about the only things I wanna do just now. I'd like to see it with a cherried-out engine compartment full of chrome, and keep the rough exterior. Maybe some cheater slicks in back on steel wheels, and vintage mags on the front. Need to get that stainless for the front fender, too. I'd like to get it together enough to finally haul my *** out to the Roundup next year. So who else has a 46-48 sedan around here?
Nice car I picked up an original 46 fordor super deluxe for my wife awhile back just trying to get some other projects under control before I start on it.
Absolutely cool! Elpolacko and I built one about 17 18 years ago, and I have never quite got past missing it. Left it crusty, but did a full boogie ch***is and a small block, long before the "patina"thing was hip. Speaking of big ****s, keep on drawing those chubby devil girls!
Yep..... I got it form Johnny who got it from ***us...... then I traded it to Bobby.....all horse trades.....Weesner even drove it to the Pile Up when Johnny had it..... Its a great old Hot Rod..... That engine works so good in that car... Glad to see it's still in the family......
here's my '48 sedan, aka never ending project. Got a 283 in there as well, mild cam, bored, etc. Should be running soon, once i adjust the clutch (using the stock 3spd w/ and adapter). Are you running the stock trans? I posted a thread some time ago on lowering these. Interested in knowing if you have done anything to your suspension other than tires?
That's a really solid car that handles, rides, runs, shifts and stops really well. I drove it from Milwaukee to Morris and back and it was great. The wind wing doesn't close right, that's all I remember being wrong with it!
I can tell! Even cooler, when I posted earlier today, for some reason I didn't notice it's a '46! Even better than a '47 or '48 - more trim! Always dug the window surrounds on those cars...
Yep, i owned it for about a month or two, i probably put about 2000 miles on it tho, i drove it alot, it ran and drove great, my buddy bought it out of a barn with the 265 in it already, he put all new brakes in it and rewired the car, cleaned the gas tank, put new tires on it (it had blackwalls when i had it) and edelbrock carb on it, it shifted and drove awsome, he also put sopme new posies springs in it, when i got it i took a couple leaf springs out of it....too many....but had planned to put some back in, but never got to it, heres a pic of it when i had it. JEFF
My very first car back in '67 was a 20 year old 4 door V8. I still think about that car 43 years later and all the fun I had in it as a 15/16 years hoon .. lol
Thanks for the photos and additional info. I wish i knew who swiped that stainless off the front fender!
