In the latest theft, a red 1959 Chevrolet Impala was stolen Friday night from Rhonda Graham's home in Chatsworth. "I was closing the kitchen window and I saw the gate was open… like I couldn't believe this. And I saw the car wasn't there," Graham told CBS 2's Amy Murphy. A car cover and a broken padlock on the ground were all that was left, Murphy reported. Graham told Murphy neighbors heard a truck and saw a flatbed quickly leaving the scene after midnight. "I think it's some kind of a big ring because I think they were very professional," Graham said. Graham's not alone. On July 17, another 1959 red Chevrolet Impala convertible – believed to be valued at nearly $100,000 - was stolen from Brand Boulevard in Glendale, Murphy reported. Rhonda Graham has no idea how much her car is worth, but has owned it nearly five decades and says to her, it's priceless. "Cause I've had the car since I was in school, you know. It's like a part of me. It's a cl***ic car, it's a great car, it's a lot of fun and it's just… you know something you've had that long, is just something you get attached to, I guess," Graham said. A third vehicle, a customized 1957 Chevy Bel Air, was stolen July 8 from outside an auto shop in Reseda. Anyone with any information about these stolen vehicles was urged to call Los Angeles police at 1(877) LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247). Sorry to hear that,we just had a 66 S.B.vette roadster.and a 69 camaro SS big block stolen from a friends auto shed.He had a 13 car collection stored several miles from his home and it appears the small access door was slipped open (no sign of force).This is rather rural country here.Apparently this is a pattern of thefts nearby.Just across the border in MO.several valuble cars were lost recently and closer to Tulsa the same thing happened.For some reason the police believe that small G.P.S.devices have been attached to these cars at car shows.I will be back at work on monday and will see if we have any new info,Dan.
Second 59 impala convertible in a couple weeks. Even though the first theft looked amature, it's starting to look big time. Hopefully the feds will get involved before they leave the country.
Thanks Danny Bayo, I hadnt thought of the GPS devices used by theives. Thats gonna get confusing on the satellite cause there is one on mine that I put there to track her!
Fwiw I saw a 66 fastback on fire on the news on some freeway around 6am today. No owner nearby, turned out the car had been reported stolen. Coulda been a bogus insurance thing but who knows, odd none the less.
Maybe if they let us castrate the sorry pukes who are doing the thieving things might be better. Till the punishment fits the crime it's only gonna get worse.
what fun it would be to parrk your 59 Impala convertible somewhere then climb up to a nearby rooftop with a sniper rifle. imagine the look on the thieves face as thier head explodes! priceless.

Been keeping my side by side next to my door where I can see my car, I dont sleep too much, I drink coffee at night to do more Homework and always check on my car and hope to find one of these P.o.s. My story will go as such "I saw the sonava ***** gettin my car, 2 bird shot in his ***. it was good.......(but imagine Clint Eastwood saying it!)"
I always carry wherever I go, and sleep with my '61 parked closest to the front door and a loaded one within reach. GOD BLESS ARIZONA'S GUN LAWS!!!!
The only way to stop these guys is going to be to set them up with a car that has some high-end tracking equipment hidden someplace inside it - like literally open up the rocker panels and hide it in there, for example.
