New to the HAMB

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by modifieddriver, Jan 23, 2005.

  1. My name is Frank I've been lurking around this site for about a year. I finally decided to make things official. I'm originally from upstate NY but moved to SC 28 years ago. At 14 my first car was a '31 Ford Vicky. Then in my late teens got diverted with dirt oval track racing. I built them and drove them until '77. Then I concentrated my first non-racing efforts on '55-'57 Chevs, then moved to muscle cars and eventually '36-'48 Fords hot rods (not street rods). In between I got the itch to race again, so I started messing with vintage oval track racing. I'm now retired and buy/sell/trade racing and hot rod parts to help subsidize my habit and race when there's an opportunity.

I'm a hands on guy and am absolutely amazed at the knowledge and experience that HAMBers are willing to share on this site. I hope I can contribute a fraction of the knowledge I've received while cruising around here to other HAMBERS.

    Hello,And Welcome!!! [IMG]

  5. Run the vintage race cars primarily at dirt tracks in the Carolinas and Georgia. Occasionally will run asphalt. Our clubs are a touring series. Right now I run a '36 Chevy coupe with a 356ci Chevy V8. No fenders. It's an open wheeled modified. We don't putt-putt around, we race.

I'll have to bend over ta' show ya' what Moonville's famous for! Get the picture?

  13. I know a Bobby Hanshaw from NW GA. He runs a '34 Chevy coach with a 350 Chev.

    Can't remember a K-9 flathead car.

  14. I have a few running hot rods, but I seem to spend more time working on the race car!

  15. Just a little shy and am a private kind of person. But here we go and I'm looking forward to the ride!

  16. HRP,

I was wonderin' if you were gonna figure out who I was!!

I'll work my way into this thing gradually. That really means I don't know how to post "pitchers"!! Give me time to get warmed up and off idle.

Also, missed ya' at the Lanier swap. I'm shooting for my 5th in a row in Feb.

Glad to see Randy got his car. i know from personal experience there's no worse feeling than selling a nice ride to get the dough to buy a car you "really want bad" and then have a turd seller change their mind. A car guy doesn't want a pocket full of $$$, and no car. He wants to be flat $broke$, but have his new prized acquisition in the garage.

You might recall me.My current car is a white 34 ford sedan with a no 5 on it. I have raced with 3 clubs out of the carolinas 2 clubs from ga but my favorite is the club out of Ky run by Roy Able.I have raced at all the dixie national until last year. I won all the flathead races ran their.I could out run most of the modern powerplant overhead 6 cyls but not all of them.. Plus I did not like how that Mike Bell [the originator of the dixie nationals} was treated and the silly rules about letting coilovers be installed on a vintage car.welcome and good luck..oh yes I been racing 44 years and still race a imca open wheel modified a limited late model camero plus the vintage racing. Bobby..
