I was just wondering if anyone had ever put a smoothie wheel on a corvette rear end, I want to use a set of 15x8 smoothie wheels but I don't know if they will fit. anyone ever tried? The backspacing is 4" I think and the inside of the rim toward the caliper has to be at least a 14" diameter. 5 on 4.75 bolt pattern, 2.75" center hub and I don't know what offset would work, but I think it has to be 0 offset or in the negatives. I have called every so called know-it-all wheel guy around and nobody seems to know anything about the mystical dana 44 corvette rear, and btw; no I am not putting smoothies on a vette, it just happens to be the rear end somebody stuffed under this chassis I picked up. I would really appreciate the help guys, thanks!!
What year Corvette? If it is a C3 rear (63-82), the production wheel was 15X8 - 4" backspace - so you would be OK. Corvette caliper sticks outboard of the wheel mounting surface, so wheel contour is important - many alloy wheels interfere, but most steel wheels clear.
Thanks fms, I got this chassis with some old kidney bean aluminum rims on it, great rims to be sure, but my truck is a bit old school for them, I have been hunting for about three weeks now to find a set that fits or some info on the "smoothies" from summit, but to no end. I guess I can order one and see if it works... The backspacing on the smoothies is 4" so I should be ok.
I have never hheard of western wheel, do they have a website that you know of? Googled it but nothing related came up. Also, are the smoothies from western the same as wheel vintiques, if so then they might fit.
I am guessing since I found the western wheel site and they dont show prices that I probably don't want to know how much they cost, may have to stick with wheel vintiques.
