50s Survivor coming to my shop!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 29EHV8, Jan 25, 2005.

  1. An ol'guy I'm friends with just sold his 40 ford coupe.
He was looking at a few cars to possibly buy.
Nothing was going his way,hes was totally bummed out.
Then he shows up at my shop and says"Guess what I just bought?"
    I ask him what?
    He says,"the Bloody Mary!"
I'm freakin out at this point.
    Holy shit you bought it?!
This car is a 50s survivor boys.
    Its a 39 Ford Coupe,chopped in the 50s.
Was one of the first cars painted Gold Base with candy Apple Red Topcoat.
This car was featured in a few Magazines.
I know for sure it was in a 1963 magazine,Hot rod maybe.
He is bringing it to my shop for a few safety updates.
Were gonna get this thing on the road with the least amount of updates for sure.
    I'm doing a few "cleanups"on it.
The chop is damn nice, very nice metalwork.
SpeedyPete and I went over to take a look.
    Speedy brought his camera.
    Heres a few pics.
I'm doing some background/research on the car.
If anyone knows anything lemme know please.....Shiny

  2. Shiny, an old friend of mine in Burnaby used to own the coupe at one time. His name was Ian Hawkins. I think he still has his model A 2-door. Either that or there was a couple of candy apple red chopped coupes around BC at that time. I think the car was featured in 1001 Custom and Rod Ideas in the mid sixties. I will try and dig up the magazine in my collection, Pat.
