48 ford door panel removal

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 3hawgs, Aug 2, 2010.

  1. Hello all, this is my first venture into anything older than 1960's vintage cars and this may be a dumb question, but i have been messing with the door handles and window cranks on my 48 ford sedan. I have worked on plenty of 60 - 70 cars and trucks but never have I run across handle and cranks like this. No clips holding these babies on. How the heck are they attached and is there a trick or a tool to get them off? I can see the holes for a set screw or something but can't see what I need to get the screws or whatever they are.

    Thanks in advance

There is a trick tool you could probably make, but all you really need is to hold down the ring hard against a spring and poke a little pin out of the exposed shank of the handle.

  3. yes sir, I saw the holes in the shank wasn't sure if it was a pin or a screw, my eyes aren't as sharp as they once were. I will give it a try.
    Many thanks Bruce
