fellow coaster member and h.a.m.b.,er. from canada, on here since 07 family only service, R.I.P. dermott.
R.I.P . Old friend, Mike was a car guy to the very core, good friend when I lived in Ottawa , I will dig up a pic or 2 of his Merc p/u and add them to this thread. Godspeed Mike .
Herea a few pics of Uncle Z's last couple of rides...his Chopped Merc half ton , dropped axle , flatty & 5speed the 64 (I think it was) was on an 80's Chevy half ton frame, it was actually one of my old trucks (the ch***is donor) . The first pic is a pit stop on the way back from Leadnorth coasters show prolly in 2005...good times . Before scallops Ride In Peace Uncle Z .....
I was called to his house at 8:30 this morning he p***ed at 4:30 a.m. after a fight with cancer. He was the first car guy I met when I moved to Ottawa from Toronto in 73 I was 13 and he was 29. MIKE had a small gas station a few miles up the road from where I lived and his shelfs were full of kustom model cars and he had a real kustom 55 Mercury sedan. Instead of throwing this kid on his bike out he welcomed me in and we talked. We have been good friends for over 35 years damn.
Sorry to hear about that. I met him and his son at a few shows. R.I.P Uncle Z and condolences to his family and friends
Good to see you on here now Nibs !! Too bad it wasnt a hapier thread...regardless I found a few more pics of Mike, first one is of Pete (Screwball), Uncle Z , Fred ( computer illiterate !) and myself at Cobo Hall Autorama in 2007 Uncle Z and Fred , all giddy from the cool cars we spent the day looking at ! And lastly Uncle Z and his wife at my wedding in 2006.
A little sense humor here Fred looks alot like Jeannie. I wish Mike was here to see that he would laugh his but off.
Its going to get rougher as we would talk or see each other at least once a week just to shoot the **** or blabber about nothing as guys do.
Just a little bump , there is a memorial at the family house on Sat if anyone in Ottawa/ Eastern Ont is wanting to go and pay thier respect.
Rest well Mike, I will miss our chats in Stirling and miss the fact that you tried to sell me your kool little truck every time we spoke. Wish it had been big enough for four of us. Chris.
