todays update . upd dropped of the headers at my moms today so after work i drove out there just to look at them and also drop of the new electric fan ... the headers are nice, straight they are one solid flange not seperate flanges like the ones i have on there ...so hopefully i will have them on this week end.wish me luck ..
todays update got the driver side header from heddmans on the car it fits so perfectly couldnt ask for a better fit .. the good,it fits on the motor perfect, it has plenty of room for the steering box, also great room for the z bar .the bad the lower part of the header ( collector ) is super close to the frame , i had to cut off the drivers side factory bell housing mount (i wasnt ever going to use it anyway). i may have to make new trans cross member cause now the headers are tucked into the frame these are perfect for someone who wants to run a bbc and slam there 55 56 57 to the ground all in all im happy, will fimnish the install tomorrow..
todays update after putting on the new headers and redoing the exuast i started the car up to listen to it run and break in the headers i let it sit running for a couple minutes while i ran inside to get a cold glass of water when i came out there was the regular smoke coming off the exaust burning threw the coating of black paint that comes factory on the headers so as im listening to the motor run i here a small knocking ...now i dont here it loud enough but its there i thought it was the trow out bearing for a minute but its def not ....so i put my hand on the valve covers to see if anything is hitting inside i can feel the lifters moving inside the covers so it might be that ...im so hopeing it is if this motor is shot im going to burn this damn car i checked the oil pressure and its around 60 psi when at idle when i drove it it went to almost 70 nothing more ..the oil pressure has nevere fallen below 40 psi so what the hell else could it be there plenty of oil it was only low 1 quart but that because the valve covers were leaking just today i put new gaskets on them other than that the motor didnt knock or make a sound unless i didnt realize it cause the header leak was so loud ..????
todays update .. well after going over the whole entire motor ..its offical the motor has a lower end knock ...its my luck BAD kind .. anyway i called the old guy i got the motor from to see what we could do the origanal deal was take this motor and if its no good he would replace it with another new 454 but i guess the deal changed somewhere cause he wasnt that nice on the phone today i explained i have not even driven the car just small test drives around the block and i was waiting on headers so i couldnt really drive it cause of the exaust leak. anyway he pretty much told me theres nothing he could do to rectify the ba motor so i told him no problem i was supposed to give him my old small block with the tunnel ram and dual quads as part of the deal but now he can shuve it ....cause were even now....
todays update well after calling a bunch of machine shops only to hear the samething,im going to pull the bbc out and put a small block back into the 56 i just got off the phone with summit they will exchange my bbc headers for a pair of small block ones that match the style of the bbc ones from hedman ...so there goes that idea out the window... the machine shops want 2000 to rebuild my motor with using my old crank,rods and pistons i was like wtf for 2000 i should get everything new ..oh well small bocks going back in ....

yea i cant ...it sucks going to rip the engine out tomorrow wich is friday hope to have the damn small block back in ..waiting on a front motor plate from speedway and the small block headers from summit should be here friday..or monday ..
todays update ok so big block is out small block is in got everything back together by 8 p.m still to do on sunday get a new fan/ alt belt run new fuel lines drop distributor in and set timeing add new plugs/ oil and oil filter add rad fluid wait for headers to come from summit by wednesday hopefully have the car running by wednesday nite

no ive been fucked by that damn big block but writeing that on the side of the car my get me attention i dont want by the boyz in blue..
lol.....yea one of these days ill have it road worthy ....ive been working on this car for about 6 months total ... 3 motor swaps 3 trannys swaps 2 drive shaft swaps ,2 hub swaps, 1 primer job 2 paint jobs, and a partridge in a pair tree...id say over kill
