The new version of the best site on the web is supercool, however I (and I'm sure lots of other computer challenged individuals) have some questions and instead of 37 different threads I figured it would be easier to post them all in one thread.

    1. How do set the board so when you click on a certain thread that is longer than 1 page it will display all the pages instead of having to click on them one at a time?

Goto your UserCP and click on "edit options" scroll all the way down to "misc options" and make sure that scroll down has this in it:

There were a few features on the old HAMB that I really liked and can't seem to figure out how to replicate them:

    1. When entering a forum, the old HAMB used to display threads that contained new posts since I last visited with the number of new posts in parentheses. This was very cool since if I was interested in a thread, but I saw only 1 or 2 replies since I last visited, I might not bother reading it. But if it has 20 new posts, I would. Is there any way to do this with the new HAMB?

    2. In the old HAMB, when clicking on the title of a thread that you had previously read, it would automatically bring you to the last post that you read so you can easily continue reading without finding where you left off. How do you do this with the new HAMB?

    Thanks a lot!

    One other question...

Is there some way I can set it up so when I click on "Post Reply", the text editor doesn't automatically insert the "quote"? The old HAMB was nice in that you had two buttons to choose from... to quote or not to quote.

To post a reply without the "quote" use the post reply at the top of the page instead of the one in the thread.

I've never thought of myself and computer challenged but last night i couldn't figure out how to post a picture using a URL from my website. I only found the option of uploading to the HAMB.... I figured Ryan would encourage people to link instead of uploading. am i just getting old and feeble? :)

one more for ya - avatars - apparently the size has changed - hwat dimensions are allowed now?

don't know how to get the number of posts since you last visited, but just to the left of the post title there sometimes is a black box with a checkmark (or something similar) in it. if that black box exists then there are replies you haven't read, and if you click on the black box instead of the post title it will take you to the next reply that you haven't already read.

i know that's not the answer to your question, but is related.

Can you still bookmark a thread so you can revisit it if you can't find it? Don't see that button on the bottom anymore

Under thread tools at the top - "subscribe to thread"

    That should hook you up...

You need to set yourself up with the WYSIWYG editor as described in my first post on this thread...

Click on the black arrow next to the thread title or on the top of this page to view posts you haven't read yet. From everything I've read, this is the only thing about this software that is not as good as our last... They are working to improve it.

  20. OK, where do I go to reset the clock?

    OK, for your avatar problems...

Go to "User CP" from the link above and then click on "Edit Avatar" you should be able to enter a URL or upload an image...

    Avatar size is 80 x 80.

To post a picture you have to type in the code that the old hamb button put in automaticly

    Type[IMG]

[IMG] that's all you need to remember.

[IMG] is the string for the above picture. I put an asterick after the first bracket so that it wouldn't work this time. You can preview the post to see if it's working. If there is no picture in the preview...try again. There is no reason to be surprised when a picture doesn't show up. The preview page eliminates any surprises. I hit the preview button about 6 times editing this post to get it to work and look right.

Now where do I find the smileys for the text. I kid too much and need the smileys so people don't think I'm a big asshole...just a regular asshole.

I've tried that several times. It seems the people that are having trouble don't see the same thing that the rest of you are seeing. There is no place to add a URL There is a button that says the avitar is turned off. We can't de-select this button.

Or we may be just STOOOPID. ;-)

Just a quick question...when I reply to a message, I really like the font size and the fact that it is black (while I'm formatting the reply). I there any way to get a post to show up with this font size and type? That small gray type is kinda hard to read...

Is there any way to have the messages and threads display as black text on white background? I just tried to read a long tech thread and the light grey text on off-white background killed my eyes after a page or so.

Actually... I took these colors, fonts, and font sizes straight from a test that the University of Stanford did. Basically, that test said that this was the optimum setup for long periods of reading once the eye gets used to it...
