Hey Guys, I have run into a couple of big snags while trying to get my 50 back on the road. I used the Patrick's kit for the Fenton dual carb kit, and am having troubles with getting the rod from the gas pedal to the pivot at the bellcrank. I talked to Patrick and he told me to bend the rod kinda straight, cut, weld and pray that it works!!! I was thinking that an aftermarket pedal with cables would be tons easier, but not sure what to use-any good suggestions??? Also I spent 3 days working with my Dad to get the 3 on the tree to work, and it kinda does, I can get the gears, but it wants to bind like a muther!!! I am at the end of my rope with this thing, and have been thinking of going to a floor shifter. I have contacted Little Wing per everybodys suggestions and am currently looking for the "right" shifter, but was wondering if I can use the generic universal 3 speed shifter or use a Mystery Shifter that is more of a universal kit. I am looking for good & simple solutions here, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Holy **** no opinions!!!!!!!!!!! Well I talked to ****ster and he told me that alot of folks go with a newer type of cable gas pedals, it makes life easier, and for the shifter from the tree to the floor-hell who knows what I'm gonna do...
I used a mid 80's Camaro pedal. Also late 60's Chevy truck will also work. I had to to a little heating and bending but nothing crazy. I used a universal throttle cable I got off ebay. Thier are pics on my photobucket page. Todd
If the shifter worked OK before you still do not have it adjusted correctly ! A Hurst Mystery shifter worked real good for me on a 54 many years ago. As tothe throttle I had several 2 carb setups on the 54 never had much problem hooking up the throttle linkage. One thing to remember is the stock linkage was a push motion ,the cable is a pull . Get you a piece of 1/8 gas welding rod that can be bent easy and try making the rod out of it. Once you get the shape you need then make up one out of the correct size rod. I PMed you my # if you want me to read you the Motors adjusting info on the shifter. JOHN.
