Finally almost finished one...54 Pontiac with pics!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Curly, Aug 1, 2010.

  1. I say almost because I'm having a hard time locating trim clips. All stock except the paint, lakes pipes, peep mirrors and the unknown visor. Straight 8 and hydramatic work fine as is and I'm contemplating a 12v conversion. I've been doing the search function for the conversion and not sure if I really need to or not.

Looks nice! Maybe post a photo of an original clip? Where have you sourced all of your other clips from? Bryan

Looking good! Can't wait to see it cruising around NEO!

There is a Clip Guy at Hershey every year but I can't find him online. Maybe try these people? http://shop.northlandfasteners.com/

Very nice Curly. I would fix whatever problems you have and stay 6v. Can always get a 8V battery ....

The only reason why I'd convert to 12 volt would be to run a CD player. If you don't need tunes I'd say it is more h***le than it is worth.

Since you're in Cleveland, try this guy: Just Clips, www.justclipsauto.com, (440)327-8013. He's out in North Ridgeville.

    Nice Pontiac!

For trim clips I went to a specialty trim store here, Nebraska/Iowa trim shop. I found the best nylon clips I have ever used. They have trimable edges that are scored and you cut them to fit your trim piece and they lock tight and don't scratch your finish as you are putting on the trim. No more metal ones to scratch, rust, and mess with your car in general. Check around, they are out there at specialty trim shops. You will love'em. Your ride is super cool, see the 54 in the threads from the KKOA show in Salina, awesome as well. Very few of these fine rides on the road. Nice work man. ~Sololobo~

Beautiful car! Reminds of the '54 Pontiac convertible my dad drove when I was a kid.

Looks great, really great. It's cool to see another poncho in Cleveland. I've had an eye out for one since I got mine but haven't seen any. Hope to see you around because I'd love to see it in person.
