Ive been a member for a little while but havent really posted anything. I picked up a 53 chevy 3800 from a guy i work with in trade for a riding mower i picked up for free. I figured it has potential to be something but not sure what direction to go with it. I like the look of the 1/2-3/4 ton but this is a 1.5 ton. the axle is wider the hubs/akles are bigger. thinking of shortning the wheel base and build a bed for it and drive it. I dont know. heres a couple of pics. Oh and just like everyone else im on a budget of little to nothing with a little one on the way and a new house it dont leave much.

Any ideas? If i had the money id have a 1/2 ton, shaved, painted charcol grey and airbaged. But that cost $$. itll be a while untill i get the funds for something like that untill then this is what i got to play with.

Find a one ton, like a '70's Chevy, use that for a chassis swap? For lowbuck it's hard to beat a full-on frame swap. I see one tons going for less than a grand sometimes, running! Just an idea:D

  6. The cabs are all the same size. 1/2 ton to 2 ton trucks. You could find a 1/2 ton frame to start mounting parts onto. Or ever swap the cab onto a (oh no I am going to say it) - S-10 frame.

  7. How about just making a truck out of it? Car Hauler? Trailer Toter? Put a flatbed on it? Hell, turn it into a Motorhome, use your imagination...

  8. and dont be too sparing with the D-CON.......

You could shorten the wheelbase to just past the cab, put a big ass gas tank in place of a bed and as much horsepower as you can manage into it... how would that be for weird?
