can anyone tell me what the stock wheel size of a 1948 chevy truck? i have 15" on there now but with bias ply white walls the wheel/tire combo looks too small. should they be 16", if so whats size tires looks best on this non lowered truck? thanks
I like 16"s much better , 600/650/700 X 16 are all okay . 600 a hair small , 700 a hair big , 650 is just right to me on a stock height truck . But whichever of the 3 you can score a set of is the way to go because new have gotten pretty pricey . This is my old 49 with a nice set of barely used 650's that I got at Long Beach swap . 600x16 and 650x16 are both listed as stock size in my O.G. 47 owners manual .
Both 15" and 16" wheels were available new in '48 (buyer's option) For 4200# GVW vehicles you could get 6.00-16, or 6.70-15 4500# GVW vehicles only came with 6.50-16 Any of those combinations should look good on your stock '48.
