When he was in KC I asked him (Jay) about the motor also & and he said that it is holding up great. Chris Nelson Kansas
Here's a cheater in my 48 F-1 work truck. It is a 1978 425 ci Caddy with early valve covers and air cleaner'
[ QUOTE ] I seriously doubt your 'hompage' is the rodders journal. You prolly won't get much help on this topic unless you put more info about yourself in your profile. [/ QUOTE ] OMG..Thats too funny
Hey Geoff. You should know me well enough to know what kind of engine I have in the coupe.I,m not into those new god dern OHV engines.they are just a p***ing fad.And for Rogers benefit, yes it is a 32. Call me next time and we,ll hang out.Just don,t fall in the fire HA HA
[ QUOTE ] ...and yeah, those engine mounts look like a story in themselves, whats the skinny? [/ QUOTE ] They started life as Ch***is Engineering mounts. Cut them all to hell, welded, ground....didn't look right so they got cut up again and rewelded, and reground....rinse and repeat until desired effect is gained. The upper mount is just a stock aftermarket mount with the rubber burned off...and a "V" shaped lip deal welded on.

Heres my buddy Marcus' Cad mill... one of the first Caddy Mills I seen that was hopped up before the Nostalgia craze hit..This thing is loud and obnoxious and pulls his 60 GMC truck with ease..its got all the good stuff in it,,couldnt tell you the list but its *****in!!
seriously nice engines, i like them all!! ...but, roberts cad mill in his chopped and channeled '34 is the one that still appeals to me the most. hey, his whole car is the first car in a really long time that just knocked me dead in my tracks. a lot of you saw it this weekend at the pomona show and it may even be here on another thread, but that car is so on it!! i think robert is a little stunned at the attention his little coupe is getting. its actually great to have such a humble guy, build such a bad *** car... kind of refreshing really!! anyone in the bay area that could help me rebuild the cad i have here on the engine stand please give me a shout. i have ****** all money, but a fat fridge full of beer and could really use some help. on another note the new issue is on its way, it will be in the mail to you guys in the next few weeks. hope you enjoy it. i will put up an auction for an adavnce copy tomorrow. geoff

I'll bring this back to the top with a picture of my motor in the 49 (since I don't have to rely on starphoto now) 1960 390" hooked up to a Ford 3spd Toploader with an 11" clutch and a Schiefer aluminium flywheel. I can resize a few pictures of Cadillac speed goodies that will hopefully end up on my next Cad powered project if anybody is interested.
make that ROOT beer and throw in a pizza, and i'll be there! ask Jay,i do good work.where is Jay,anyway? he still owes me cookies from last time...
brock, i'd love to see your speed stuff. i am actually looking for an offy 3x2 intake if you know of any. i have the 2x2 for the engine that will go in the roadster, but want a 3x2 for my other engine that will go in... something. yorg, i'll take you up on it! pizza and root beer, i'll be ordering it by the case today. which jay? jay fitz? we are in the studio today and tomorrow but pm me your number and i'll give you a call. man, this is great, i have no clue on how to build an engine!
I'll have to try and do that tonight. I need to resize them. Not much cooler than vintage Cadillac speed equipment. What is your roadster going run for a trans? I may know of an Edelbrock 4x2bbl, but it has been awhile since I talked to him. I have all the speed goodies for my 28 project, just don't have the motor yet. Anybody in the Pac NW know of a good 49-62 Caddy motor for sale??? Brock
OK you asked for it. Horne 4-2bbl polished intake. Hildebrandt valve covers for adjustable rockers. Mallory dual point for 55-62. Really cool 55-62 Cad to 49-54 Cad, this way you can run early Hydros or manual adapters. 49-54 Cad to GM trans. I got more...Now if I only had a motor for my 28 project
Hey Moriarity, i bet it was really easy to find those finned valve covers for that 49 caddy? right? , or is the 49 caddy's valve covers the same as the olds one? i know the 1949 caddy is a one year only type of valve covers.
Don't know if you noticed Daemon but at one point in their life my Hildebrandt covers were on a 49 Cad. Got holes like the Olds style cover, and they filed down the ears on the 4 standard mounting holes . I think that you are correct in being 49 only.
It was a very early production 49 change from 2 to 4 bolt hold downs. my valve covers are olds as are the ones on the real car. I dont know that they made finned covers for early 2 bolt heads. the olds covers just barely fit
hey brock and yorg, just got back from turlock, didnt see much cad stuff. a few intakes and one or two distributors, but.... i got the bellhousing i need to run the early toploader... so, stoked! i'll talk to you guys during the week. geoff
Looking for a good read. Can some fill me in on the early cadi? What ci,hp/tq numbers. I read about people looking intakes. What about cams?
