I caught these on the Denver Post today and figured many of you guys would find them interesting. From the article: Captured: America in Color 1939-1943 "These images, by photographers of the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information, are some of the only color photographs taken of the effects of the Depression on Americas rural and small town populations. The photographs are the property of the Library of Congress and were included in a 2006 exhibit Bound for Glory: America in Color." http://blogs.denverpost.com/captured/2010/07/26/captured-america-in-color-from-1939-1943/ This one inparticular really strikes me....
cool to see those images in color. helps my imagination fill in the gaps! also makes me thankful i dont live in a dugout.
LOL, Ryan covered this about 5 years ago... OT: America in COLOR 1939-1043 I guess he's ahead of the curve. http://myloc.gov/exhibitions/boundforglory/pages/default.aspx
I am sad I wasn't alive back then. Times were most likely harder, but people took pride and in how they looked and what they did. I can't say that for todays population and even more so the younger generation. Look at the two little kids who are making a airplane out of wood. God forbid a kid used his imagination today. These two pictures speak really loud to me. My grandfather was a welder at age 15 till he died.
searching for "library of congress" found it. and they have a flikr account where most of those pics are as well. there's lots of cool stuff out there. there are a few threads on stuff from the library of congress archive stuff...
