SPECIAL NOTE TO ALL OF MY H.A.M.B. FRIENDS... LOU CALASIBETTA and his crew at the Old Stillwater Garage in Stillwater, New Jersey, have been responsible for some of the most unique Rods & Restorations for almost 4 Decades. Lou's stories have been on the Hall Of Fame Legends Site since the beginning, do***enting his great career, BUT in a Special Interview we did shortly after his KKOA HOF Induction, Lou gave me his feelings and thoughts about this prestigious honor. Lou's a real gentleman, as well as an expert craftsman , and I was glad I was at the KKOA 30th Anniversary Ceremonies to witness the Inductions first hand. Hear Lou's story about his Induction RIGHT NOW ! http://d10514412.u46.c5.ixwebhosting.com/gpage139.html (HERE ARE THE NEW HOF INDUCTEE'S FOR 2010: BOB METZ (posthumously), MURPHY & THE STRIPER, and, LOU CALASIBETTA.) If you have any other pix of Lou's cars, go ahead and post 'em so that others who may not be familiar with all of the rides that came out of the Old Stillwater Garage can see ! JK
I knew Lou way back in the early 80s when he first started at the Stillwater garage. I bought my first 60 Pontiac from him when I lived in Stillwater. He sometimes bought brake parts from my father's shop in Trenton. Lou's a top notch guy. You could walk across the street to the liquor store or Garrits (sp) general store. Take a 500 ft. walk down to Skuzzy Eds (as we called it)....for a beer in an old dirty "inn". Its now a upscale, cleaned up nice restaurant. I miss the little town. That garage he's in used to be a Gulf station owned/run by Mel Naugle (sp?). After Mel p***ed away in 1979?....I think Lou got the garage from his estate. Mike
Lou is a great guy. It's always a pleasure catching up with him at Gettysburg or Lead East. There is no shortage of killer cars coming out of his shop. Pictures don't do that GMC there justice. Lou really deserves this honor
Many thanks for the kind comments ! It's always great when "Good Things Happen To Good People"...and Lou Calasibetta fits that description to a "T" ! Also thanks for the pix Teddy ! JK
