I love the Nostalgia drags, but who picked August in Arizona?!

 

"Under the Stars" and hopefully under 100!

 

BGT, We've been wanting to add a third event to our annual schedule for a few years now.
The Speedworld calendar fills up almost a year in advance with reoccurring events, Summit Team races etc. If you look at it from October to mid April ,which are the traditionally cool months, there isn't much room to squeeze in three events in a series.
You've got the holidays in the mix, The Hangover New Years event, plus the NHRA National Open , Firebird Nat's and Divisional already in there , so you can go up against them, also Goodguys Fall and Spring now, and so on.
There have been many successful events during the summer months at Speedworld. The After 9 hippity- hop Import freak shows continue to embarrass us in the nostalgia business with their turnouts.

The West Coast Hot Rod deal is next week ,and they did quite well last year.

The old timers in this valley are always telling me how they used to race all year long at Beeline and SW . They'd stay out there till dawn sometimes, but at least it was a bit cooler at that time of the morning.
This IS a nostalgia event ,so maybe that will be a good tie in. We'll see.

We went out last night and the weather wasn't bad at all, it always seems to be a bit cooler out there, I guess it's because the asphalt and cement jungle hasn't got out that far yet. My new driver got 11 passes under his belt and the Chevy's running great. 2 more weeks to go.....hope to see you all at the track.....Spike

Hey , I had a question about the car show judging today.

With so many different styles of cars at our shows, this person was worried that a true "show car" would be the only thing that could win.

I assured him that the military car guys / judges would definitely weigh in the "cool factor" too.

Just to make sure though, we've added a People's Choice trophy to be determined by the top vote getter like we always did. So cast your ballots early, but not often ( this ain't Chicago)

So now that I'm the latest HAMB celebrity I should mention that'll be signing autographs and selling copies of my new book..... HAHAHA

I'm kidding about the book and autographs but I will be hanging out in the HAMB courtesy area, spinning records and grillin' up some brats' with Chip(need louvers?) in the car show area at the races. Please stop by and say hello!

I'm happy that Mark and Spike asked me to come back out for this event. Maybe if i'm lucky somebody will take me on a pass or two this time around, i'm an extra 275 pounds of "ballast"

Do you guys have any requests for music? The band is staying home this time and I'll be there with my turn tables, some vinyl, and laptop. If you have some old records laying around bring a couple of your favorites and we'll give 'em a spin!!

Have you ever thought about a N/SS class/race at these events? (how about to include small blocks, not just big motors & mutiple carbs like every single N/SS organization out there) The Junior stock thread on here is incredible.
Here out west the N/SS stuff is slim pickins'.
The 'look' of a pre-'70's stock / super stock deal without the high cost of current NHRA Stock & SS may just be a blast!
Just a thought.

I'd love to get a group together in Az., but you're right.. There's not too many cars like that in the Valley.

Done and Done.... This time I have a few surprises. I mentioned to Chip the other day about some of my vinyl being sold to finance...well... life, but I have been putting together an interesting play list. Even if some of it is digital.
