Poor thing.... A few years ago I was wandering around one of the local u-pull-it lots when I spot this car: It broke my heart, aside from the surface rust it was in decent shape, someone probably p***ed away and nobody in the family wanted it so it was junked. I would have loved to own this car and probably would have paid WAY more than the junkyard did. I'm sure it's a kenmore refrigerator by now
there was a50 chevy at the one near me it sat there for over a year and they literally was nothing left but a carc***!!!! glad they didn't just crush it. usually stuff goes in and out of there quick
Hey , I spotted a 1969 Pontiac Catillinia Convertable at Chesterfield Auto Parts in Richmond Virginia not too long ago . This same yard has also been known to have had hard to find pieces like a 1963 Chevrolet Panel Delivery, 1950 Ford F-1 with a 8- B A Flathead and a RARE NO Door 1961 Ford Econoline van ......... scrubba
No pix, but I have a grille out of a '50 Pontiac that turned up in one here locally. I've seen other old stuff, but of the three here one has a deal with another yard and he gets anything really good, whole; and the other one sometimes sets aside good whole stuff and will occasionally sell you something out of there, I bought an AA doodlebug from them in '08 that I was able to add some pieces to and flip and make a few bucks on.
I was in a u-pull-it yard near Scranton, Pa.....and what do I see???....a ROLLS-ROYCE....THAT'S RIGHT.....stan
It's a couple years OT for true HAMB fodder, but I was surprised to find this Chrysler in a U-pull last year. Engine, trans and wheels gone but everything else pretty much there and damn solid! (Hood is sitting on top). Was really amazed at the interior ... factory leather and damn nice except for the driver's seat being torn. Dash, instruments, door panels .... somebody somewhere woulda loved to have this stuff! Hope it all went to a good home.
OH what a shame.I would have to go beg the owner to let me buy her.I hate to see cars like that get destroyed. It would make a great custom. It is probably already history. Those yards don't let them lay around too long.
I saw an old 4-dr. hornet at the local pick-a-part that looked to be in better condition than the one in the original pic. ****s to see em' go like that.
When our Ecology auto wrecking yard opened about 12 years ago, there was a ? row.An actual row where every body in the office was too stupid to figure out what it was! I got a bunch of great stuff out of that row the first couple years. '48 Plymouth fenders and grill trim, '53 Desoto bumpers and grill, '59 studebaker lark bits and pieces, all sorts of cool stuff. Still not uncommon to find sixties stuff there today.
I forgot, actually I saved a '48 Hudson 4dr from one of the you-pull-its here. I don't think much got picked off it while it was there, it had been on the road in '96 and has an NSRA sticker in it, has Chevy motor mounts too, no front clip, no dash, steering wheel & column top torched off so I know that was done before it went out there. Bought it whole on the day it would have been crushed, as it was they did crush a much worse '50-'51 while I was hooking onto this one. That was in 2007 or 08. Wished after that I'd saved a parts car to strip and make this one more complete.
I saw it 3 weeks ago and got all of the good stuff off of it. Twin-H intake, super dome head other little bits and pieces.
One of my latest pipe dreams is to put a car roof onto a cl***ic boat to turn it into a cabin cruiser. I think I've resolved what car roof I want.
I'm sure it would come out. But they're about 800 pounds. And i'm about 140 and have nowhere to store it. You want it come get it. I'll even help ya.
I'll be right over. I'll lift the engine out with my back and a seatbelt sling. So that is you in the avatar picture?
