    I'm with Muttley.

Everybody has a base of friends that will always be there. In most cases you can count that base on 1 hand. It's your "home" in a manner of speaking. It's that gig that elicits the "He's one of us..." ideal. And charity begins at "home". If there's a need to keep score it's not help, it's barter.

I have learned my lesson!!! I have had it stuck to me sevral times. And I am still waiting for a "buddy" to send me a $500 part "that he would send to me when he had a duplicate made". I hope Car-ma catches up soon! It has already been over a year!

It is kind of a bummer to loan someone a rare part you've been saving for one of your projects to get them on the road and find out he let it go when he sold his car/bike a week later.

I like the "friend" who askes, can you "help" me do this, and sits and watches while I do all the work? Also the "friend who needs to barrow something, will come and pick it up but you have to retreive it back from them.

I just painted a chopper for a friend, didnt charge him except for materials and a week later he calls saying how much he sold the bike for and didnt offer me a dime. A couple days ago he calls to tell me he's gonna drop off the sheet metal for his new bike and didnt like my quote to paint this one. If it was for him I dont mind doing it but if hes gonna profit from my labor I want a peice of the pie

I'm the same way; it's usually worth the money for the deadbeat to leave me alone. Unfortunately, mine aren't as cheap as yours was....

I've had a few of my old car club "buddies" that have jerked me around on parts and $$$ from 20 years ago, still avoid me at shows and cruises. They know they did me wrong, and they also know I have a damn good memory about **** like that. I tell everyone that will listen not to deal with them in any way, shape, or manner, and why! I wouldn't cross to street to piss on them if they were on fire.

  10. one of many many stories

i had a pair of N.O.S.wiper arms and blades for my 60 chev truck i did not have them on cuz it was waiting to get put in the garage .. a buddy was drivng a 63 chev truck and his wrong arms and blades fell off while driving it I said "here's my N.O.S units until you find some other's" the next day he say's he sold his truck ... i go over immediatly and remove my set ... the new owner backs out of the deal "cuz it ain't got wiper's!"

the buddy was P.O.ed he went out and bought some used arms china made plastic blades.. 48 bucks for the pair .... eventually sold the truck for less... he still gripes that i wrecked his sale .. whata do you think ?
i told him lend -borrow means temporary .... and have always verbally loudly said this on all types of transactions

seems that because you have the stuff people need .. and if you have duplicates or they know you found a bargain .. they are automaticly en***led ..
trust me i give plenty away ..and am still learning which people will give it back or be able to do likewise .. or barter.... trades....
stll weeding out" just people i know " from true to life friends...

funny how my time, money, focus, intuition, dedication,is just a shortcut to the goldmine ..shhheeese

20 plus years in the auto parts biz has its drawbacks when it come to helping folks out....

thieves ar thieves and buds are buds

Real loud, obnoxious guy I know for maybe 25 years only shows up when he wants help, needs something machined, to use the shop bead blaster etc.etc. When he puts his face in the office window I just think WTF does he want now but I know him a long time , he's getting on in age , so I put up with it and try to be pleasant.

Well low and behold he shows up a week ago and hands me an NOS "Ford" alternator and tells me he just felt he owed me something for all the favors we have did him in the past and he had this sitting on his garage shelf for years and will never use it.
I thanked him for his thought and told him it was much appreciated.

Now I guess I got to get a ****ing Ford to re-build..

  13. I have always helped and never expected anything in return. I figure if I am being taken advantage of it will come around and bite that person in the ***....
