What is the proper name for these ??

    Some are labeled most are not and have about 200 to go through from the 20's to early 50's,,,as well as about 300 regulators :eek:

    Thought they were striker plates ,,but does not seem correct.

    Actually, they're more than door latches - they are 'mortise' latches, as it is necessary to mortise out portions of the door itself to install these. A 'mortise' lock is similar in appearance, but has a deadbolt instead of the slip latch.

    Some of these may be car parts, but they'd be very old car parts.

    Ok latch,,was'nt sure if it was lock or mechanism :D

    Things have so many different names anymore,,just looking for the most common..thanks
     

  10. 3wLarry just won, a single, p***enger side 'mortise' door latch. Now he has to search in vain for the matching, drivers side! :D

    Striker plates are what these latches--strike and latch onto.
