Some are labeled most are not and have about 200 to go through from the 20's to early 50's,,,as well as about 300 regulators Thought they were striker plates ,,but does not seem correct.

Actually, they're more than door latches - they are 'mortise' latches, as it is necessary to mortise out portions of the door itself to install these. A 'mortise' lock is similar in appearance, but has a deadbolt instead of the slip latch. Some of these may be car parts, but they'd be very old car parts. dj
