Hey fellow fossil fuel junkies: Just wanted to say hello to the community. I rebuilt a 1979 Trans Am with traditional custom touches and painted it glossy House of Kolor kandy basecoat (08) tangerine over silver metallic. I am an airbrush artist, so for all the homies, I painted a pin-up on the trunk (as well as the screaming rooster on the hood). Currently, I've read and studied "How to Rebuild and Modify Rochester Quadrajet Carburetors" by Cliff Ruggles and tore into my first real thorough carb rebuild, with the challenge to get it to run right on e85. I'll post the results here. So stay tuned. It runs, lean, so far... I am very interested in e85 use, especially with turbo/supercharging. So if anybody out there has been down this tire-smoking road before, I'd love to hear 'bout it. I'm also interested in auto-x and drag racing, in the same vehicle. BTW, my Poncho runs a '72 455 w/6x heads hooked to a 4L60, not super quick, but crazy fast. 1.9 final ratio when you figure overdrive. My car is a work in progress (you know what I'm talkin' 'bout!) so I hope to keep making it better, with handling and power top of the list. Keep the rubber side down, Aguila1... PS: Let me know if ya like the pics!
you do realize this is a traditional Hot Rod site and that car is not a car that is welcomed here (called an off topic, OT)... the pin up is great... BUT we are basically pre 63 traditional hot rods... NOT Muscle Cars...
No kidding! But I'm here for the tech info, so it shouldn't be a problem what car I have or don't have. And since the purpose of this thread is to introduce my ***, I really don't think it's relevant that musclecars are not welcome here. How is my introduction off-topic? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a great many might appreciate the artwork if not the paint & body, since there are only a handful that can airbrush like this. After all, pin-ups go well on vintage stuff, even better than on my street custom. Frankly, I don't get the hostility, especially you also being from SC. Thanks for welcoming me aboard. I didn't know it was an exclusive club where you actually had to own pre-'63 junk and not aspire to someday.
Hey f*cknut, I was just letting you know off the bat, as many dont know or realize. I was very nice about it in comparison to some of the others that will get ahold of you soon! And you calling in pre 63 junk is surely not gonna help your cause! If you want hostility, you will surely get it. Good Luck...
And you should have probably read the Sticky that Ryan put on the top before even posting an intro... Traditional... you did your intro talking about a musclecar... how OT is that?
Thanks for pointing out the obvious. And junk is west coast slang for any old car. Get over yourself.
UM, I am on the West Coast, have been in the middle of the car scence here for over 2 years... Never heard anyone call it junk... I make the rounds to all the shows and if you call someones ride junk, you get ***** slapped. I haven't a problem bro. I was nice and trying to save you heartache, I am a teddy bear compared to some of these old timers that will rip you a new ***hole on here... But good luck...
I am gonna pop popcorn and sit back and watch Old Skool... did my first post really steam with hostility? I thought it was rather nice...even complimented his pin up... maybe I was wrong?
Frankly, I don't think that is going to happen, oh intolerant one. For one thing, you claim to spare me from an ***ault by leading the charge. Not very welcoming of you. Secondly, it is an introduction thread, so if I wanted to say that I'm Joe-Blow and I like to bake cookies besides like hot rods, that shouldn't raise anyone's ire. Thirdly, I'm running a Pontiac, just like a lot of old-school rodders, an overdrive transmission and know my way around bodywork, spray guns and airbrushes, so my experience is applicable and most relevant to pre-'63 junk, and just because you never heard that slang, doesn't mean I meant any disrespect. I call any old stuff junk and so do the guys at Hot Rod magazine. My guess is you'll look like the lone intolerant rude one. God forbid there are more like you.
Actually he is one of the more laxed people. It gets worse so if you are just here for the tech, don't post your car. Trust me, it'll get deleted. Hate to say it but it will and he was being nice in the beginning. So calm down.
I wasnt rude to you until you were a jerk off... AND there are many intolerant rude ones...believe me, I have saw a lot worse! I EVEN emailed/messaged you after I sent my first post to you to explain, before you were a jack*** and called it pre '63 junk. I took it as disrespect, I know NOW you didnt mean it as disrepect, but I was being helpful... I dont doubt your skills or talent, but you opened up an intro to a traditional hot rod site by talking about your OT Muscle Car...
Nice! My brother lives off of Pelham Rd. I used to drink at a bar near you... Olympia Restaurant... and of course not too far, Bubba Annies... My cousin is the fire Chief at the firs station right by there (East Simpsonville, now something else)
Do we have a pissin' contest, or a cat fight, or just some idiot stick starting something? Just a thought, now be nice and if this isn't a good fit , go somewhere else with your Junk talk ! That's my story and I'm stickin to it !............... firstnomad www.angelfire.com/jazz/flatlandstudio
Nice website firstnomad! I was just being my usual jovial self... OT is OT... too many people dont read the sticky Ryan posted and we get a MuscleCar as an intro? Oh well... I am just a lone intolerant rude *******.... Not like I have never saw one of those on this site before...
and I quote ... "The HAMB is dedicated to spreading the gospel of traditional hot rods and kustoms to hoodlums world wide. That's right - TRADITIONAL. And we aren't talking Beach Boys and poodle skirts here fellas. If you are into a-side 50's pop, lawn chairs, ruler contests, and all things that make hot rodding warm and cozy then you might want to find another message board. If you aren't sure what we mean by "traditional" then you might think twice as well. If you are here to set a rep, talk some ****, and make some fun then you had better turn around right now. We aren't patient" "Even if you have come here for all the right reasons, don't expect posting to be easy. We don't cater to new fellas unless they show a dedication to spreading this tradition of ours first. We welcome young, old, foreign and all - but our original members and our staff expect a certain level of respect and an effort to keep things true and on topic." Aguila1... I have read and re-read what Mizz Moonshine wrote and it does not appear to me that he was out of line. You on the other hand...
Thanks 1stGrumpy.... I was new once too and I got put in my place over the unforgiving "R" Rod word! I have been scolded and know the error of my ways... just trying to make things go smoother for those that follow...I am an NCO in the Army (Drill Sgt/Infantryman) so it is what I do...
Some folks can't or won't take a little constructive criticism, oh well... And I THANK YOU for your service! 1stGrumpy
