I need to find the proper fuel sending unit to go into a Vintiques 32 fuel tank, that would have the correct Ohms for a 56 olds fuel guage..

any one have a source? or know what ohms unit to be looking for?

    VRF,
I wondered about using a small ohm potentiometer, and seeing if you could deflect the guage, and then measure your range for empty-to-full w/a Voltmeter.

that woud be a sure fire way to know for sure..im pretty sure the 0-90 didnt come into GM until 65..

the fun part is finding a sending unit to fit the vintiques tank that runs on 0-30 ohms....wonder if i could just get a "fits all" sending unit for 0-30 and set it up to work in this tank?

Pretty sure its the 0-30 ohm sender. I have a 'universal' sender in my '33 (0-90) and it works well. Just be sure to follow the instructions on setup (arm length, drop, etc.) The important thing on the universal types is the mounting flange. Be sure its the correct bolt pattern. Adapting can be a *****. I would think that Vintiques would sell senders???

Mine is like this one, except 0-90...... (one shown is 0-30)

if you look at www.fusick.com they will sell the correct sender for a '56 olds (hold your breath though, not too cheap!), just a case of if it will fit your tank or can be made to do so. The original tanks are not very deep, maybe 6" or less ?

I would give you a reading from mine but it pretty much fell to bits..
