Ive got a 1960 f100 2wd with a 292 and a 3 on the tree, that i dont know the name of... Ive pulled it about 5 times now, and it worked great for about a week. Now when the truck is running it wont go into 2nd. When i stop and shut it off, it goes right into 2nd. If theres anybody who knows an easy fix or a good ****** thatll bolt up to the 292 plz let me know.

A good chance the shift linkage needs adjusting. Do a search ,just had a thread on this same vehicle/problem last week.

Years ago, this is how I fixed the 3 ott in my 67 chev pickup. Get a set of Mr. Gasket (or comparable) steel shifter bushings (for a 4 spd shifter). Then you drill out the holes at each pivot point in the linkage, they worked on my clutch linkage too. They fit right over the lil ****** that goes thru the hole. Is hard drilling! After I put them in all the pivot points, the throws on my tree shifter were about 4 inches long!! This won't repair any slack in the neutral gate, but does wonders for the rest of the linkage. You'll love the results!

    :p
