I have a set of these and was going to mount them to my '40 backing plates. Hmmm, don't fit, maybe just a trim here and there should work. I get out tools and file, grind, sand...ok they fit into the recess now. Now got to mount them with bolts/screws.....hmmm.....the upper location wants to mount through the shoe stop adjuster.....hmmm...... I also look inside the scoop and can't even turn the shoe stop adjuster bolt with the scoop on. WHAT THE HECK?

    Anybody need some finned ashtrays?

Why not mount them to thin plate the same shape as the scoop. Then the bolt the plate to your backing plate where it doesn't interfere?

I have a set from another company that had the same issues. I ended up making them work, but obviously you can't bolt through the adjuster. Someone who knew nothing about early Ford brakes obviously made them on a set of bare backing plates, saw the open holes and...

  9. Possibly because there are very few early Fords in Shanghai......

Hey, I like your lazy susan jig for keeping the hole drilling concentric! Very cool.

  14. When I'd done the pair I was so chuffed I took them in the house to show my wife - she looked up from her magazine and said the left one has one more hole than the right one. I counted them up - she was right..... Dohhh

There was a group of fellows on here that we're making decent-looking brake scoops out of ****er dishes they found at Target, I believe.

They look very similar to the finned ones Sonny Mac Industries was selling a few years ago.
