Miller vs Lincoln

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 32Rules, Aug 9, 2010.

  1. I got a new Miller 211 and so far I love it. I've tried a Lincoln before and it was a 180HD model that you can get at Home Depot and it welded fine, but I'm also I'm not a good enough welder to really be able to nit pik a machine either. I liked it but love my Miller. I guess I'm partial to Miller and when I move up to TIG it will be a Miller for sure. They got great customer service and mine was all made in the US.....and least thats what it says on it.

I have a brand new Lincoln 255XT and I must say, it rocks. I have had a Miller that was 220 and both HTP and Esaub 110 volt welders and I have to say that the Miller and the Lincoln are both more versatile being 220 volt units.

I have a Miller 251 mig and love it. Learned to Mig on a large commercial Lincoln and it was great, too.

Prefer Miller for tig but wouldn't turn down a Lincoln or Thermal Dynamics.

Really, red or blue...you can't go wrong.

I use a 140c/225 Lincoln. The thing is awesome. Best two welders on the market hands down. Best choice. I think they still offer the package deal.

    You cant compare a 220V machine with a 110V machine. That's like comparing a 4cyl with a V8. :p

Either machine is good, and only slightly different to use.

I went to school for welding at Lincoln in 2003, at that time EVERY component was made in Cleveland except the wire used in the machines, which was from a Japanese company owned by Lincoln. I don't know if it's the same way, but at the time I bought my welders I knew they were MADE IN THE USA.
Since 2003 I have not had the first problem with any of the 4 of my welders

On whatever you decide on. Just make sure that you have some local support from your Local Welding Supply Shop. That actually sells Miller Or Lincoln. Not a 1 800 number.

I buy allot from www.cyberweld.com. I have never had any issues with them and spent many of thousands of dollars with them over the years. They are in Jersey and I am in California. Always quick Shipping and Free shipping to boot.

I am not affiliated with them in any way but just a happy customer.

Also if I need something now. I just print off cyberwelds sale and my local LWS will normally match it.

    Good luck

No difference as long as you compare a 180 with 180. I wouldn't get anything smaller. Buy the one that is on sale or the one they give you an incentive to buy, such as a cover or a cart.
