Hey, I have a simple problem. My son-in-law acquired a complete 51 chevy business coupe. Wondering if a different inline 6 could swap in place of the 215. Also need a couple numbers decoded. Style # is 51-1027. Body # is N-5502. Trim is 201. Paint is supposed to be Aztec Tan, but is mostly rust now. Wanting to eventually swap to a more conventional drivetrain, maybe using S-10 pieces. Thanks for any help!

Thers alot of info here, use the search feature. Also join the social group rockstar with torque wrenches for everything 49-54 Chevy, or chevytalk.com.

I belive a 235 bolts right up, 4x4 S10 rear ends or early 70s Nova. Not sure on the numbers.

235 or 261 should swap in easily. You'll need to use a short water pump. Patrick's can answer all these questions for you. Good luck with your project.

I had a 235 out of a 54 chevy in mine, when that motor went I easily replaced it with a 51 chevy 216. If you need any parts for it let me know, I'm in the middle of swapping out for a 350/350 and I have a ton of straight 6 parts that are filling up my garage! Good luck. Sam
