Replacing the ignition switch on a buddys 63 ford f100 truck, got the new switch and key lock cylinder and the key cylinder will not fit into the switch, is there any special trick to get it in or should the cylinder go in easily???

do you have the switch lined up properly? The switch has to be lined up to get the lock cylinder to fit into the switch properly.

Ya I make sure there all lined up and the cylinder will start to go in but just won't go in! I'm going to return it and try a different parts store

You have to put a paper clip into the small hole to override the stop position so that you can align the mechanical aspects of it. Turn the key to the left after you insert the paper clip.
